Under the direct supervision of the Senior Communication and Media Assistant and the general supervision of the head of mission, the Communications Assistant will support the development of communication products and implementation of IOM El Salvador’s communication strategy and plans.

Functions and responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of communication campaigns for migrants, as well as counterparts and relevant partners, which contain printed, audiovisual materials and content production.
  • Participar en el desarrollo de la estrategia de comunicación de la misión que incluya el plan de trabajo y acciones para que los públicos relevantes conozcan sobre la OIM y sus proyectos
  • Diseminar información periódica sobre la OIM que contenga datos, perfil de beneficiarios, entre otros
  • Preparar reportes estadísticos, en coordinación con los equipos de operaciones, que contenga gráficos y puedan ser de consumo público incluyendo donantes, contrapartes gubernamentales y redes sociales.
  • Asistir en la coordinación con periodistas y editores de radio, prensa y televisión para posicionar mensajes relevantes de OIM.
  • Recolectar información y asistir en la preparación de reportes y/o newsletters a nivel nacional sobre la OIM para diseminar con medios de comunicación, contrapartes relevantes y socios.
  • En estrecha colaboración con el Asistente senior de comunicaciones, mantener un flujo constante de información sobre las actividades y otra información relevante de la OIM.
  • Realizar visitas de campo para recolectar historias de personas migrantes que reflejen las acciones de la OIM en el país.
  • Coordinar la visibilidad de los proyectos en El Salvador, en coordinación con los equipos de programa.
  • Proporcionar apoyo logístico, notas internas para prensa y captura de fotografías en los eventos y otras actividades relevantes.
  • Mantener actualizada la información de las actividades de la OIM en los sitios web, y redes sociales.
  • Mantener un directorio actualizado de contrapartes relevantes de gobierno, sociedad civil y donantes para que los productos de comunicación desarrollados de puedan ser diseminados.
  • Mantener actualizado un archivo fotográfico y audiovisual de las actividades de la OIM en El Salvador.
  • Cualquier otra actividad requerida de acuerdo con su experiencia y habilidades.

Experiencia y Calificaciones requeridas

Educación

  • Estudios Universitarios en Diseño Gráfico y/o Comunicaciones o una combinación de una institución académica acreditada con tres años de experiencia profesional relevante.
  • Certificado de Secundaria con cinco años de experiencia profesional relevante
  • Por lo menos 3 años de experiencia como diseñador gráfico y / o información pública.
  • Experiencia en Fotografía.
  • Experiencia en relaciones con los medios.
  • Experiencia en gestión de redes sociales.
  • Experiencia en organización y gestión de eventos.
  • Experiencia en comunicaciones o relaciones públicas para grandes organizaciones.
  • El conocimiento del contexto migratorio en el Norte de Centroamérica es una ventaja.
  • La experiencia en comunicaciones para derechos humanos, enfoque de género y grupos indígenas es una ventaja.
  • Experiencia en proyectos de desarrollo local es una ventaja.
  • Experiencia de trabajo con la cooperación internacional y organizaciones humanitarias internacionales, será una ventaja.

Experiencia

  • 3 años de experiencia realizado trabajos de diseño gráfico y/o comunicación institucional.
  • Experiencia en fotografía, diseño web y producción audiovisual.
  • Experience in content curation and social media management.
  • Experience in graphic design, communications or public relations for international organizations, cooperation organizations and/or international humanitarian agencies.
  • Experience in communications for human rights, migration, gender focus and/or vulnerable populations is an advantage.
  • Experience in local development projects is an advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge of the migration context in the countries of northern Central America.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools, color theory and their application in institutional communication products.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, multiethnic environment and to maintain effective working relationships with people from different national and cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the wide range of migration-related thematic areas addressed by the Organization is an advantage.

Languages

  • Spanish (Fluent spoken and written)
  • Intermediate English (spoken and written)
