Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration,works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and nongovernmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services andadvice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission of IOM Senegal, and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, the Database and Data Analysis Assistant will be responsible for assisting the DTM team in the management and analyze of IOM’s DTM data in Senegal by performing the following duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Perform the technical maintenance of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM)

database in general and the Flow Monitoring Point (FMP) in particular.

2. Perform the backup and centralization of all FMP data collected across the various field

operations.

3. Verify the integrity and quality of data backed up in the FMP database.

4. Monitor the feedback and daily quality control of the data collected through the various

field operations.

5. Perform data processing, correction and export as required for analysis and reporting.

6. Prepare monthly reports on Flow Monitoring Point (FMP) data collected.

7. Coordinate on a regular basis with FMP investigators, to verify and correct data during

operations.

8. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

University degree in: Information Management; computer science; development of web, Android, database or related applications, from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or

High school diploma with four years of relevant experience

Experience

  • Previous experience in an international, humanitarian/development organization and/or in information management is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Strong Computer skills especially in MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Proven experience in database management
  • Proven experience in data analysis
  • Computer Application Development
  • Data processing with SQL language.
  • Approved technical capabilities in data processing with SQL
  • Ability to use Tableau, Power BI or Python or other programming languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to use Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or other design applications.
  • Ability to generate new ideas and solutions and contribute to the creative process.
  • Respect for confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Language

  • Required

Fluency in French (oral and written).

  • Advantageous

Working Knowledge in English (oral and written)

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances. Subject to certain exemptions, vaccination against COVID-19 will in principle be required for individuals hired on or after 15 November 2021. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
