1. Background 1.1 About ICS
ICS-SP, an organization focused on promoting the well-being of children and families, seeks to develop a comprehensive Life skills curriculum aimed at equipping adolescents with critical skills for resilience, self-protection, and overall growth. The curriculum aligns with the organization’s commitment to nurturing positive childhood development and preventing violence against children. 1.2 Background of the project
ICS-SP is a leading African NGO dedicated to ensuring that all children grow up in safe and nurturing environments, free from violence, and equipped with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive. Over the years, ICS-SP has developed and scaled innovative solutions that address violence against children (VAC) and violence against women (VAW) through evidence-based interventions. These include Skilful Parenting Programs, the Whole School Approach, and Social Norms Transformation models.
ICS-SP’s Whole School Approach focuses on creating safe and nurturing learning environments by equipping teachers with skills to prevent and address violence in schools.ICS-SP supports teachers to create safe and inclusive learning environments. A dedicated Teacher Training Curriculum will enhance educators’ capacity to prevent violence, promote gender equality, and foster student well-being. The organization seeks a consultant to develop a teacher training curriculum that enhances educators’ abilities to manage classrooms, identify and address violence, and support children’s psychosocial needs.
1.3 Details of the assignment
ICS SP is seeking to revise its teacher training curriculum aimed at equipping teachers and non-teaching staff and school leadership
2.0 Purpose of the assignment
This assignment’s purpose is to create and design a teacher training curriculum that empowers educators to foster safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environments discipline, and child safeguarding. The curriculum will provide teachers with the tools and strategies needed to prevent violence, implement positive discipline, and support the psychosocial well-being of children, ensuring that schools remain a haven for learning and growth.
2.1 Objectives of the assignment
- Develop a teacher training curriculum to enhance skills in positive discipline, violence prevention, and inclusive education practices.
- Include modules on gender-responsive pedagogy and inclusive practices.
- Align the curriculum with national and international standards for teacher training.
3.0 Methodology
The consultant will be expected to propose appropriate process facilitation and documentation approaches that effectively address the assignment’s objectives.
4.0 Scope of Work
- Review existing teacher training materials Analyze existing teacher training programs and identify gaps.
- Work with the implementing team at ICS SP to co create
- Provide practical tools for teachers to create safe learning environments.
- Align the curriculum with national education standards and policies.
- Develop interactive training modules including presentations and activity guides focusing on evidence-based practices.
- Pilot the curriculum with a sample group of teachers and revise based on feedback.
- Develop an implementation manual for education stakeholders.
- Conduct a training session for feedback and incorporate suggested revisions
- Work on the design and layout of the curriculum to make it user friendly
4.1 Timeline
The exercise will be conducted within 11 working days. Broken down as follows
1 day inception meeting
5 Days Working on first draft
1 day for feedback meeting
4 Days finalization and clean up
The final Document should be submitted to ICS-SP on 17th March 2025**.** The consultant is expected to draw up a work plan in line with the work’s scope. This includes planning meetings with the project team as and when necessary.
5.0 Selection criteria for consultants
- Strong background in education, teacher training, and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with Whole School Approach frameworks and child protection policies.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering teacher capacity-building programs.
Other requirements
- Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Kiswahili or local languages (desirable).
- Ability to deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.

6.0 Deliverables
- Gap analysis report.
- Complete teacher training curriculum with implementation manual.
- Final report summarizing the pilot process and lessons learned
