Chemonics is seeking multiple technical advisors to the USAID-funded Sahel Regional Resilience Activity (SRR) in Burkina Faso, Chad, Gambia and Mauritania. The SRR aims to improve the capacity of individuals, households and communities in the Sahel to mitigate, adapt and recover from ongoing shocks and stresses. USAID plans to award multiple awards under a single mechanism emphasizing local partnership and potential transition grants to local partners.
We are seeking a range of technical advisors, based in Burkina Faso, in areas related to resilience programs, for consideration:
- Food Safety
- Agricultural production
- Development of market systems
- WASH
- Gender and youth integration
- Nutrition
- Social behavior change strategies
Qualifications:
- University degree in environmental science, agricultural production, economics, health/nutrition, or another field related to the SRR technical specialization areas listed above; Graduate degree preferred
- At least seven years of progressively responsible professional experience managing, implementing and/or advising on resilience programs in one of the following areas: food security, agricultural production , market systems development, water, sanitation and hygiene, integration of women and youth, nutrition and social behavior change strategies, including at least four years of work in Sahelian countries in public or private contexts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including the United States Government, relevant government departments, and NGO representatives
- Previous experience on USAID-funded activities, including designing or implementing resilience-building activities in Sahelian countries, is strongly desired
- Have demonstrated a positive working relationship with USAID, including knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, compliance and reporting requirements
- Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of public and private sector counterparts, donors and other key stakeholders
- Excellent ability to clearly and effectively articulate oral and written technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience working in conflict environments with an ability to adapt to the needs of a changing security situation
- Demonstrate ethical leadership, versatility and integrity
- Professional fluency in French required, fluency in English is strongly desired. Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
