Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR) – Global Security Advisor At World Vision

The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 5 million people – mostly women and children – to flee to neighbouring countries. With the escalating crisis, the needs are growing by the hour. More than half of Ukraine’s children have either fled for safety within the country or are living as refugees.

Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety. We are currently scaling up our multi-country response across three countries (Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine) and are recruiting for many key positions that will make a direct impact on the lives of people who have been caught up in conflict.

Here’s where you come in:

As a Global Security Advisor, you will design and implement security structures for World Vision International (WVI) Disasters Managements (DM) – Humanitarian Emergency Affairs (HEA) response operations in medium to high risk conflict and fragile contexts in alignment with WVI security policies and procedures that will allow WVI to deliver humanitarian aid & relief programmes securely and in a timely manner while maximizing staff safety.

When directed, you will also provide direct and indirect security support across the WVI partnership to support Regional and National Senior Management Teams’ with; Critical Security Incident and/or Crisis Management, Investigations, Civil-Military-Police Coordination, Context Analysis, and Technical Security Advice and Training.

Requirements Include:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Strategic Studies, International Relations or Emergency Management. (General Management studies also considered); or
  • Minimum 5+ years previous experience in the professional security arena (INGO, Corporate, Military, Law Enforcement, or Emergency Services).
  • Sound knowledge of INGO security practices with proven experience in Security Risk Assessments (SRA), security planning and critical security incident/crises management in the humanitarian context.
  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
  • Must be prepared to travel to ‘high risk’ security environments at short notice.
  • Will be expected to manage high stress security events.
  • Flexibility in work hours is expected.
