Safer Access Consulting is a leading Humanitarian and Development Risk Consultancy, specializing in enabling safety and security in Ukraine. Safer Access Consulting has three main service pillars: security skills training, security and risk advising, and secure transportation facilitation. Safer Access Consulting was established in 2018 and has been licensed to operate in Ukraine since May 2022.
Since its founding in 2018, Safer Access Consulting has provided security skills training for over 5,000 humanitarian and development practitioners across more than a dozen countries, the majority of which in Ukraine and throughout West Africa. In addition to supporting general safety and security in Ukraine, Safer Access Consulting has also developed technologies surrounding landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) risk education.

Opportunity Overview
Safer Access Consulting is seeking an experienced and results-driven Ukraine Landmine and ERW Grants and Proposal Writing Consultant to join our team on a project basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our fundraising efforts by developing and submitting high-quality proposals to key landmine and ERW oriented donors, as well as supporting reporting on grant deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing funding from international donors who donate to Landmine and ERW programing in Ukraine. The role offers the opportunity of working with a young and highly motivated Ukrainian / Canadian team who have collaborated passionately to develop an emerging technology in the Landmine and ERW risk education sphere.
Key Responsibilities
– Refinement and Supplementary Research: Leverage the consultant’s knowledge of relevant donors to focus proposal efforts and lead the development of a program strategy for proposal delivery tailored to various potential donors.
– Proposal Development: Collaborate closely with the in-house team to gather necessary information and approvals, ensuring alignment with both Safer Access’ and the donor institutional and strategic priorities, donor funding guidelines, grantmaking history and preferences, and eligibility criteria. Craft tailored, persuasive, and professional concept notes and grant proposals of the highest quality for submission to the identified trusts, applying Safer Access’ values and voice. Adhere to all donor-specific requirements and deadlines.
– Proposal Management: Manage the lifecycle of the proposal process, including submission, follow-up, and tracking. Work collaboratively with the in-house team to address any additional queries from funding donors.
– Performance Reporting: Provide regular progress updates to the in-house team, including a comprehensive report at the conclusion of the proposal management process. Document learnings from applications for future applications.
– Grant Reporting: Lead the grant report writing process for successful grants, including collecting all inputs from internal staff and relevant external partners, write and finalize content for submission to donors for grant compliance. Ensure the Safer Access Consulting’s voice and values are reflected in highest-quality reporting while ensuring the key priorities of the donors are clearly identified. Work with the Safer Access Consulting team on additional inquiries from funding bodies.
Key Deliverables
– Project plan for proposal delivery to key donors.
– Submission of high-quality proposals with requisite organizational information.
– Comprehensive final report to the Safer Access Consulting outlining outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Candidate Requirements
– Proven Expertise: Demonstrable experience in fundraising, with a track record of securing significant funding from traditional and non-traditional donors internationally, and specifically in writing successful concept notes, grant proposals and effective reporting.
– Language Skills: Fluency in English is required.
– Strong Research Skills: Ability to analyze and assess funding opportunities effectively.
– International Development: Experience in international humanitarian and development program frameworks, monitoring & evaluation, and strategic trends.
– Mine Action Experience: Has preferably worked in the Mine Action humanitarian sector.
– Compelling Communication: Exceptional writing skills with the ability to produce persuasive and well-structured concept notes, proposals, and grant reports.
– Collaborative Approach: Proven ability to work collaboratively with in-house teams and adapt to organizational needs.
– References: Minimum of two references from previous fundraising engagements.
Additional Information
The position is expected to be remote based, with potential travel to Ukraine to work directly with the Country Team.
The position parameters are negotiable, and candidates can propose part-time or full-time work schedules depending on workload and/or personal commitments.
The successful candidate will have access to organizational resources, data, and expertise to support the proposal development process.
