Vacancy of a District Project Focal Person in charge of the SPAIE Project in Yumbe District At Uganda Society for Disabled Children

Background of the Project:

Uganda Society for Disabled Children (USDC) together with Initiative of Social and Economic Rights (ISER), and Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) are to implement 3-year project (January 2024 – December 2026) called Strengthening Public Accountability and Investment in Education (SPAIE) funded by Education out Loud/Global Partnership for Education. The overall objective is to contribute towards improved public investment, strengthened governance and accountability that fosters equitable learning for all children in Uganda by 2026. The project will be implemented at national and in 3 local governments of Namayingo in Eastern Uganda, Yumbe in Northern Uganda, and Sheema in Western Uganda. The project aims at strengthening citizen and government engagement on equitable public education financing, improve the functionality of social accountability mechanisms and increase usage of citizen generated data on equality and inclusion for marginalized groups to foster equitable learning for all children in Uganda. Its against this background that USDC is advertising the role of project focal person to support the implementing of field activities in Yumbe district.

Job Summary

Under the Leadership of the SPAIE Project coordinator, the District Project Focal Person will coordinate, implement, monitor, report and engage the relevant stakeholders on behalf of the Uganda Society for Disabled Children. The Focal person will also support other implementing partners in the coordination of Activities.

Expected roles and tasks to be accomplished Related to Project work:

  1. Coordination, implementation, and regular monitoring of project activities in the delivery of the SPAIE Project.
  2. Collect and Document data on project outcomes implemented, capture case stories, best practices, share experiences and lessons learned during program implementation.
  3. Take lead in Lobbing key stakeholders to support equitable public financing for all children education.
  4. Develop, activity, monthly and quarterly reports.
  5. Develop and maintain partnerships and relationships with district local government departments and other key stakeholders in the program areas.
  6. Prepare timely activity work plans and share them with implementing partners.
  7. Take responsibility for the efficient and effective maintenance of the field office, USDC/PSG assets, and office consumables (including stationery) within the district.
  8. Prepare timely and accurate accountabilities with accountability break summaries according to the laid down procedures of USDC.
  9. Motorcycle riding permit is a requirement, you’re therefore requested to acquire or declare it to the organization in the first 6 months of work.

Related to project structures and Capacity Building and Support for all Children including those with Disabilities roles:

  1. Ensure rights of all children including CWDs are observed and protected (education, health, food, clothing, and shelter).
  2. Support project working structures like advocacy groups and participatory budget clubs at all levels to form and register with legal authorities. attend to project working structure meetings as one way of building their capacities.
  3. Access and disseminate information on inclusive issues of marginalized groups including girls, CwDs, refugees and children from poor backgrounds.
  4. Maintain an up-to-date records of project data in the District.
  5. Represent the interests of the organization ‘s project niche in any forum.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  1. The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in social worker and or any related field.
  2. A certificate in Project Management is an added value.
  3. A minimum of 2 years of working experience in the project implementation
  4. Experience in project management
  5. Familiarity with the project location and Geographical context
  6. Good analytical skills and ability to present and report findings verbally and in writing.
