Description of COOPI in the country

Since 2019 COOPI establishes a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. Starting in July 2020, a regional crisis response program began, which was implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection ( GBV, Trafficking and trafficking in persons ), reproductive sexual health, WASH ( water, sanitation and hygiene ) and school feeding.

Objective / job description

COOPI is looking for a Cominication Officer for the ECHO project Multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance to meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable people. The interventions contemplated in the framework of the project are implemented by the CONHAVE consortium, made up of COOPI, CESVI, ACTED, Première Urgence Internationale, Solidarités International and six local organizations. COOPI is the leader of CONHAVE. The intervention aims to multisectoral, comprehensive and coordinated response to the most urgent needs of the most vulnerable population affected by the complex crisis in Venezuelathrough the provision of services and assistance in the Protection ( GBV, VoT ), Health, WASH and Food Safety sectors. The Consortium organizations will concentrate their actions in seven ( 8 ) states of Venezuela: Capital District, Miranda, Zulia, Falcón, Lara, Sucre, Delta Amacuro, Bolivar and Amazonas.

The objective of the position will be:

TO. Responsible for the creation, design, implementation and monitoring of communication strategies and campaigns within the framework of the implementation of the CONHAVE consortium.

Areas of responsibility

Main Activities:

Under the direct supervision of the Country Coordinator of Coopi Venezuela, the Communications Officer of the CONHAVE Consortium will carry out the following tasks:

  • Desarrollar la estrategia comunicacional que será implementada por las organizaciones miembro del consorcio CONHAVE, según las indicaciones del Coordinador/a del Consorcio.
  • Desarrollar y coordinar diferentes campañas de comunicación.
  • Crear, diseñar y producir contenidos informativos (escritos y audiovisuales) de las actividades e impacto que genera la implementación del proyecto en las comunidades y beneficiarios de las acciones ejecutadas por el consorcio CONHAVE, desarrollando visitas al terreno para la producción de contenidos, así como para la comunicación con comunidades.
  • Apoyar la correcta implementación de las regulaciones de visibilidad/marca de los donantes.
  • Organizar, desarrollar e implementar plan de capacitación de equipos en temas relacionados al área comunicacional de los proyectos de ayuda humanitaria.
  • Create, design and publish content for different social media portals that will be part of CONHAVE’s communication strategy.
  • Coordinate with different providers the circulation of the content produced.
  • Prepare a periodic report of the main news in the national context, on issues that may affect the activities carried out within the framework of the consortium (politics, security, humanitarian affairs, among others of interest).

desired profile

ESSENTIALS

  • Professional studies with a professional degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, Design or Audiovisual Communication and Photography,
  • Experience of  at least 5 years in the communication area  in NGOs and/or companies;
  • Ability to systematize processes and prepare documents, reports and information bulletins;
  • Excellent knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress and social networks, HTML and CSS programming language.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Experience Design) to manage images, photographs and graphics.
  • Knowledge of video recording techniques with cameras and cell phones.
  • Knowledge of Google metrics analysis tools and social media audience insights
  • Attitude and spirit for teamwork, motivation, honesty, proactive and decisive attitude, common sense, discretion;
  • Respect for humanitarian principles: humanity, neutrality, impartiality, operational independence;
  • Sensitivity towards gender and diversity. Have experience and ability to live and work in diverse cultural contexts displaying culturally appropriate attitudes;
  • Essential Spanish language   and   advanced level of English ;
  • Immediate availability.
