COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is a secular and independent NGO, founded in Milan in 1965. It carries out development projects to contribute to the fight against poverty in particularly degraded areas and emergency programs to support people affected by natural disasters or conflicts. Currently, COOPI is present in 33 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. The main institutional donors are the European Union, UN agencies, the Italian Government, local entities and other European governments.

Description of COOPI in Venezuela

Since 2019, COOPI has established a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. As of July 2020, a regional crisis response program begins that is implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection (GBV, Child Protection, Human Trafficking), sexual reproductive health, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene ) and school feeding.

Objective/job description

COOPI plans to strengthen the project team by hiring One (01) School-Based Program Coordination Assistant . The main function focuses on supporting the Project Coordination in the distribution of school meals in the COOPI intervention areas in the state of Sucre. Their role involves supporting the coordination of field activities, managing key information related to food distribution, and assisting in the execution of School Based Program activities. In addition, they will ensure that inclusion, diversity, gender and protection policies designed by WFP are implemented effectively. All these actions will be carried out in full compliance with the objectives of the COOPI organization, the commitments to the donor, World Food Programme , and national regulations in the areas of intervention.

Areas of responsibility

Field Coordination

  • Collaborate in the detailed planning and execution of all activities related to the School Based Program in the COOPI intervention areas;
  • Supervise field operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and quality standards;
  • Coordinate and support the logistics of food distributions in beneficiary schools and communities, ensuring efficient and timely distribution;
  • Facilitate effective communication between field teams and COOPI headquarters, ensuring relevant information is shared in a timely manner.

Information Management

  • Centralize and manage critical information related to food distribution and all activities linked to school meals;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date beneficiary records, distribution data, monitoring reports, and any other information necessary for program monitoring and evaluation;
  • Collaborate in the preparation of technical and financial reports required by the donor and other interested parties.

Participation in WFP Meetings

  • Attend and actively participate in all meetings called by the WFP related to the distribution of school meals in all its modalities;
  • Collect and synthesize relevant information from these meetings to share with the project team and ensure effective implementation of recommendations.

Support for the execution of the Program

  • Collaborate with the Coordinator in developing a detailed schedule for the execution of activities related to the School Based Program;
  • Contribute to the formation and training of school meal teams, as well as the planning and monitoring of kitchen maintenance and the implementation of the modalities of served dishes and distribution of take-home baskets;
  • Play an active role in any other activities carried out within the framework of the School Based Program.

Desired profile

ESSENTIALS

  • University studies in areas of administration, public management, international relations or related to the position;
  • Demonstrable work experience of at least 3 years, preferably in the management of social projects, feeding programs or community projects;
  • Experience creating documents and reports;
  • Ability to work autonomously (organization, work planning, analytical development, synthesis) and in contexts with high complexity and under pressure (meet limited deadlines);
  • Excellent teamwork capacity, in person and remotely;
  • Good communication, creativity, proactivity and social sensitivity to collaborate with various stakeholders in the community, including continuous monitoring of processes;
  • Respect for the vision and mission of COOPI, its charter of values ​​and humanitarian principles;
  • Advanced written and spoken Spanish language essential;
  • Use of computer tools (Microsoft Windows operating system) and office tools (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Immediate availability.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experiences working with international NGOs and institutional donors;
  • Knowledge of the English languages;
  • Venezuelan nationality or residence permit in the country.
