Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and, as the lead United Nations agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does this by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Security Officer and under the general guidelines provided by the Head of Mission and in close collaboration with the United Nations Department of Security (UNDSS) and the Regional Staff Security Office (OSS), the candidate The selected person will perform the following functions:
Functions and responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of Office security activities.
- Assist in responding to security incidents affecting Office staff and their dependents by liaising with UNDSS and other relevant authorities to implement necessary actions.
- Help establish and maintain the Warden System of the Office and Sub-Offices.
- Notify the Security Officer, CoM, SRMO of any security emergencies and incidents involving any IOM member or having a potential impact on IOM operations.
- Provide IOM staff with approved security information through established communication channels.
- Maintain regular communication with UNDSS and local authorities to exchange information on the security situation to facilitate the smooth implementation of IOM operations.
- Assist the Security Officer with the administration and supervision of the security guards of the Office and Sub-Office.
- Orient staff and visitors on security procedures in the Office and in the country.
- Organize training courses, follow up on compliance with mandatory safety courses and enrollment in the UNDSS-Trip system.
- Assist in the organization of field missions, including personnel tracking and security monitoring in the area.
- Manage and coordinate with UNDSS the delivery and renewal of IDs for IOM staff.
- Assist in administrative tasks related to security, process management
- Carry out other safety-related activities as assigned by your supervisor.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Education
- University studies with a Bachelor’s degree, Security Administration, Law or some other related field of study with two years of relevant professional experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant professional experience in the security area.
Experience
- Previous experience with United Nations security policies and procedures will be an advantage.
- Experience working in an international organization will be an advantage.
- Experience working with law enforcement agencies will be an advantage
- Experience in international missions will be an advantage.
Skills
- Management of computer programs (MS Office)
- Excellent organization, planning, process management skills
- Spanish (Fluent spoken and written)
Languages
- English (Fluent spoken and written) will be an advantage
