Dråpen i Havet (A Drop in the Ocean) Sarajevo is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the life of People on the Move.
By becoming a Volunteer Fieldworker in Sarajevo, you will work in an inspiring team of local and international volunteers. Being part of our dynamic grass-root organisation will give you a good understanding of the living conditions and challenges People on the Move face while their life is on hold.
How does everyday life look like in TRC Ušivak, Sarajevo?
Everyday life as a field worker is varied and meaningful. Our activities have a broad range in terms of purpose, content and target group, and we aim to include our field workers in all the various tasks. You will be included in a schedule with a clear overview of the activities you will participate in but you should be prepared for unpredictable days in the field.
What will be your responsibilities?
Humanitarian aid:
- Assist in running our Free Shop by welcoming visitors, distributing clothes and hygiene items and organizing the stockroom,
- Assist the Field/Logistic Coordinator in the warehouse by sorting and checking donations and conducting inventories,
Community Empowerment and Non Formal Education:
- Conduct recreational activities including sports, arts & crafts and occupational activities and workshops, …
- Conduct basic and intermediate IT Classes, Language Classes and educational workshops,
- Create teaching content and tools,
- Create communication content such as posters, presentations and brochures,
- Conduct outreach to inform beneficiaries about our activities and improve the community mobilization and empowerment
And always support other team members when needed.
We want to hear from you if:
- You are at least 23 years old and fluent in English,
- You are proactive and creative, with great interpersonal skills,
- You are able to commit for at least 4 weeks,
- You can provide us with a clean criminal record and a valid travel insurance.
We also offer internships in the field.
Before applying, please take into account that:
- We require that our field workers cover all costs related to their assignment. A Drop in the Ocean is not responsible for assistance on financial matters, but if you are able to commit for more than 4 weeks, you can apply for personal costs reimbursement (food, accommodation and transport) limited to 300 EUR per month.
- We are unable to support you in obtaining a visa. You should only apply if you can obtain your visa independently.
