UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a Website Quality Assurance Internship position within the Digital Solutions Team in our London office.
The internship will be with UNHCR’s Digital Engagement Section, which sits within the Department of External Relations (DER). This exciting internship is a unique opportunity to gain experience in digital, websites quality and online user experience as well as experience working within the UN system.

Organisational context
The Digital Solutions Unit sits within the External Relations Division. It delivers and maintains public websites and mobile applications to support the Organization’s communication, advocacy and fundraising activities. The team comprises of web developers, project managers, security and quality specialists, and maintains a portfolio of 300+ public websites.
The position
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive team player, with a strong interest in digital, websites quality and online user experience.
Duties and responsibilities
• Reviewing the portfolio of UNHCR Public websites.
• Reviewing the minimum standards and performance indicators for UNHCR web presence in the fields of usage, branding, look-and-feel, governance, security, etc.
• Assessing the websites on the portfolio against the defined web standards.
• Recording information in the UNHCR portfolio management tool
• Producing reports and dashboards
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be a recent graduate (those persons who completed their studies within one year of applying) or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to work of the Organization
• An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.
Desirable qualifications and skills
• Academic background in digital, digital marketing, computer science, quality assurance, web development studies
• Good understanding of the web development lifecycle
• Experience of updating and managing websites
• Strong verbal communication and writing skills in English
• Experience and interest in improving online user experiences
• Analytical and drafting skills, experience in producing analytical reports
• Good intercultural communication skills
• Strong eye for details
• Be flexible and a team-player
Location
The successful candidate will be based in UNHCR London office. However, it is anticipated that public health measures in response to the pandemic might remain in place for at least the first few months of the internship. The internship may therefore involve a combination of remote home working and work in the office. This arrangement will be regularly reviewed in accordance with the changing Government guidelines.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the internship. Obtaining and renewing current visas and residence permits including all associated costs, are the responsibility of the intern.
Conditions
The internship is for six months and the start date is in December 21/January 22. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
The terms of internship, as defined by UNHCR practice, include the payment of a Food and Local Transportation Allowance (FLTA) of 1000USD. Please note that should the intern receives financial support from an outside party, this will be deducted from the FLTA.
