Women and Girls Empowered Consortium Intern (Unpaid Internship) At American Bar Association

Unpaid: This is an unpaid internship. Participation in the internship is not an offer of employment, and successful completion of the internship program does not entitle the selected intern to an employment offer from the ABA.

Description of Internship Opportunity: ABA ROLI’s Women and Girls Empowered (WAGE) Program requires an unpaid intern to support the implementation of WAGE’s ten ongoing strategic initiatives, as well as the WAGE Consortium’s efforts to use collaborative research and learning to build a body of evidence on promising practices. Among others, the intern will conduct targeted research on issues related to gender-based violence, women’s economic empowerment, and women in peace and security; monitor and provide weekly updates on political and social developments in the countries in which WAGE works; contribute to the project’s learning agenda through research and event planning; and contribute to building WAGE’s website and social media presence. The internship will provide the selected candidate with the opportunity to work directly with the WAGE team and gain a practical understanding of working on a large donor-funded grant in an international nonprofit setting. The WAGE team will support the intern through advice on professional development and relevant learning opportunities.

Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 years old or older and:

·Currently enrolled in (or in a deferred enrollment/gap year status recognized by) a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) and in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program; or

·A recent (i.e. up to one (1) year) graduate of a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) with a degree in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

·Strong research, writing, analytical, knowledge management, and communication skills.

·Interest in women’s empowerment and gender equality, and international development in the nonprofit sector.

·Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
