SUMMARY
The Youth Empowerment Specialist for the Instant Network Schools (INS) Programme is responsible for coordinating and delivering youth-focused initiatives with a vision to foster inclusion into the economic, social, and cultural world of today and tomorrow through increased access to quality and relevant opportunities. The role ensures the effective execution of the INS programme by working closely with implementing partners, youth groups, educators, and stakeholders towards sustainable impact and engagement.
You will be part of the core INS team and work in a cross-functional team, reporting directly to the Global Programme Lead. You will preferably be based in the Bordeaux area (France).
This position is a full-time consultant role. It is currently advertised for the period from April 2025 to March 2026 with an opportunity to extend contract duration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Coordination & Implementation
- Support the planning and execution of the INS expansion plans with a focus on youth empowerment initiatives.
- Provide logistical and operational support to ensure smooth programme delivery in target communities.
- Contribute to programme design backed by community engagement and needs assessments.
- Work collaboratively with programme partners, government bodies, private sector partners, and youth-led organisations to support programme sustainability.
Youth Empowerment Strategy
- Contribute to developing a strategic vision for youth empowerment leveraging INS 10+ years of assets, experience, and expertise.
- Support identification of opportunities for funding diversification, including public-private partnerships and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Assist in adapting existing M&E frameworks to assess the Youth Empowerment programme’s impact and effectiveness
- Collect and analyse data to inform programme improvements and decision-making
- Facilitate learning processes by sharing insights, best practices, and lessons learned to enhance programme delivery
Youth Empowerment & Capacity Building
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to enhance youth leadership, digital literacy, and life skills.
- Support the development of mentorship and coaching programmes to guide young people’s career aspirations and personal growth.
- Promote youth participation in decision-making processes and ensure their voices are considered in programme development.
Essential Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Youth Development, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in youth development, digital education, or programme coordination in an international development context
- Experience in implementing youth-focused empowerment initiatives, preferably in refugee or underserved settings
- Strong background in stakeholder engagement and partnership coordination
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to challenging contexts
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities effectively
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Desirable Qualifications & Competencies
- Experience working with refugee communities or in humanitarian settings
- Proficiency in multiple languages, especially Arabic, French, Swahili, Portuguese or Amharic
- Knowledge of digital education tools, EdTech solutions, and youth training methodologies
