Objectives and responsibilities:
Contribute to the management of pharmaceutical supplies at designated sites, under the supervision of the mission’s Pharmacy Manager and in accordance with MSF policies and protocols , in order to help ensure the proper management and adequate distribution of medicines and medical equipment.
- In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, participate in the management and control of the project’s medical stock, in order to avoid shortages, losses or overstocking.
- In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, manage the preparation and validation of orders on a monthly basis and ensure they arrive on time to avoid unnecessary intermediate orders. Investigate medication stockouts.
- Contribute to the supervision, management, monitoring, and control of medical supply inventory in MSF offices, expat residences, and vehicles . Conduct physical inventories, place orders, and check expiration dates.
- Contribute to the collection of consumption data from healthcare centers at least once a month and record the number of patients. Cooperate with the Pharmacy Manager in drafting the resulting monthly reports and, under their supervision, communicate data to the relevant MSF team members.
- Improve and monitor the existing control system
- Assisting counterparts at the Ministry of Health with their responsibilities regarding medication consumption, inventory management, and order preparation/receipt
- Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of medical equipment according to the instructions in the user manual and protocols. Informs the medical supervisor in case of any malfunction of a medical device.
- Contribute to the preparation and organization of training sessions, also for other MSF staff
- Ensure the continuity of the program in the absence of the Supervisor or in the event of a handover; share your knowledge of the program with new team members as quickly, efficiently, and accurately as possible.
- Ensure the rational use of medications in accordance with current therapeutic protocols and recommendations.
- To supervise and support pharmacy storekeepers and the pharmacy team in their daily tasks.
- Analyze stock discrepancies, investigate the causes and implement corrective actions.
- Managing temperature-sensitive products while ensuring compliance with the cold chain and temperature traceability.
- Supervise the storage and organization of stocks according to good storage practices (FEFO, specific conditions, product separation).
- To check the quality of the products received and ensure their compliance with applicable standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to medical teams on the use and management of medications.
- May be required to travel to PaP for a few days to assist with receiving international orders and shipping them to projects.
Selection profile:
Education : Qualified pharmacist, advanced degree required. License to practice and professional registration mandatory.
Experience : Experience with local pharmaceutical systems (Ministry of Health, private sector) is an asset. Demonstrated experience in team supervision and training.
Languages : Creole and French essential.
