A regional sustainable energy initiative is seeking a qualified Energy Policy Expert to support the development and delivery of a training and capacity-building program focused on sustainable energy planning for local governments. The role will contribute to improving public sector understanding and application of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) strategies in line with national energy transition goals.
The expert will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to align technical content with local policy and governance frameworks, contributing to training programs, knowledge materials, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance on integrating energy policy into training programs and materials for local government officials
- Support alignment of national energy frameworks with local governance and planning systems
- Deliver technical sessions (online or in person) and contribute to webinars or workshops
- Develop knowledge products, including policy briefs, training content, and advisory notes
- Engage with relevant stakeholders including sector experts, government representatives, and knowledge partners
Education/Training:
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Energy Policy, Urban Planning, Environmental Management, or a related field
- A bachelor’s degree with two (2) additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree
Language: English
Professional experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy policy, sustainable energy planning, or climate and energy governance
- Minimum 2 projects Involvement in the Philippines that integrate energy policy with local development planning is preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with or advising public sector entities on energy policy issues
- Experience delivering trainings, workshops, or lectures on energy policy is required
- Proven authorship or co-authorship of policy briefs, guidance notes, or strategy documents
