Industry Expert – Energy Systems and Planning At Asia Society for Social Improvement & Sustainable Transformation

A regional energy planning initiative is seeking a qualified Energy Industry Expert to help design a framework to sustain and expand a sustainable energy planning training program through partnerships with different energy sector players in the Philippines. The expert will contribute in technical content development and capacity building for local governments on sustainable energy solutions. The role will focus on bringing practical insights into renewable energy (RE), energy efficiency (EE), systems integration, and energy infrastructure planning to strengthen the relevance and applicability of training modules and technical support.

The expert will contribute to achieving sustained partnerships between LGUs and energy players to unlock RE and EE initiatives in LGUs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the partnership framework for RE/EE projects in local governments.
  • Provide applied technical input on RE and EE systems, technologies, and deployment strategies.
  • Support the development of training materials and a guidebook for LGU officials.
  • Facilitate at least one (1) dialogue with knowledge partners and trainers to explore modes of collaboration to support LGUs in sustainable energy planning.
  • Advise on practical approaches to project development, permitting, and integration into local planning.
  • Contribute to knowledge products and serve as a resource person for training-of-trainers sessions.

Education/Training:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • A bachelor’s degree with two (2) additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree

Language: English

Professional experience:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in energy systems, energy infrastructure planning, or renewable energy project development
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or advising local governments, utilities, or public-sector actors in energy planning or project implementation
  • Experience conducting at least one (1) training, technical workshop, or capacity-building session for government or community stakeholders
  • Familiarity with financing mechanisms, PPPs, or private sector engagement models in the energy sector is required

Preferred Criteria:

  • Has worked with the development sector
