Caritas Switzerland is a leading international aid organization in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Caritas Switzerland operates in around twenty countries with the aim of combating poverty. Present in Chad since 1973, its projects focus on income generation, climate change, and migration.
As part of a project whose implementation is conditional on obtaining funding, Caritas Switzerland is looking for:
One (01) Project Manager (Team Leader) 100% (M/F)
The Project Manager (Team Leader) works under the supervision of the Country Director of Caritas Switzerland in Chad and in technical collaboration with the Thematic Advisor in Market Systems Development (DSM).
Your tasks
- Ensure overall responsibility for the advisory services provided by Caritas Switzerland;
- Ensure the consistency and complementarity of Caritas Switzerland services with other project services;
- Take charge of the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of capacity building actions for partners in value chains;
- Take into account cross-cutting themes (gender equality);
- Manage and supervise the interventions of long- and short-term experts;
- Identify the need for short-term missions within the available budget,
- Ensure monitoring and evaluation of results;
- Write reports within the required timeframes;
- Ensure compliance with administrative procedures;
- Monitor the use of funds and financial planning in consultation with the lessor;
- Carry out travel as part of the project as needed.
Qualifications
- University degree (at least BAC +5 level or Master) in economics, agricultural engineering or business management;
- Have 15 years of professional experience in the agricultural sector, particularly in the development of agricultural value chains and in the management of an agricultural business;
- Good knowledge and technical expertise in the development of agricultural value chains and in the management of an agricultural business;
- Very good experience in the agricultural sector in the European Union, including 2 years in one of the following subcategories: a) in-depth understanding of import issues, b) food quality and traceability of agricultural products
- In-depth knowledge of German and European Union donors is an asset
- Good professional experience at international level and in sub-Saharan Africa;
- Solid experience in managing development cooperation projects and gender issues;
- Proven experience in managing development projects as a senior manager exercising disciplinary functions for at least 6 people and assuming responsibility for a budget of at least three million euros;
- Strong coordination, presentation, negotiation and donor engagement skills,
- Very good knowledge of French (oral and written);
