About HiHFAD

Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HiHFAD) is a Non-Profit, Non-Governmental, Charitable Incorporated Organization registered in the United Kingdom and in Türkiye (TR: İyilik İçin El Ele Derneği) that provides high standards in humanitarian and relief services to the most vulnerable wherever needed through local engagement and global support.

Established in 2011 by a group of British-Syrian diaspora, HiHFAD was born out of a desire to extend a helping hand to vulnerable groups and displaced families in Syria and beyond. Since then, HiHFAD remained at the forefront of humanitarian agencies, providing life-saving aid to Syrians in hard-to-reach areas. Our extensive Healthcare Program has enabled us to expand and reach even more communities and internally displaced people; providing a comprehensive, integrated multi-sectoral intervention in Health, Nutrition, WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Protection, Shelter, Non-Food Assistance, Food Security, Livelihoods, and Education.

HiHFAD mandate is to alleviate the suffering of those in need without any type of discrimination, protect the most vulnerable, promoting social justice and welfare, and fostering durable solutions through delivering community-based humanitarian and development interventions.

Job overview

He/She will be responsible for implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities in identified projects, including implementation of the MEAL plan, data collection and analysis, and preparation of periodic reports. He/she will also design digital data collection tools, and contribute to assessments and surveys.

He/She will ensure the activation of complaints and feedback mechanisms, enhance coordination with program teams and partners, and share results in a timely manner.

He/She will also document lessons learned and best practices, provide recommendations to guide evidence-based decisions, and enhance the quality of planning and implementation in future projects.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

1: Field tasks (60%)

A. Data Collection and Field Monitoring:

• Conduct regular field visits to project sites to collect data using monitoring and evaluation tools (questionnaires, interviews, direct observations).

• Monitor the implementation of activities and verify compliance with the indicators specified in the MEAL plan.

• Support the implementation of assessments and evaluations, including needs assessments, and other data collection activities as required by MEAL department.

• Verify the quality of data collected from field teams and ensure it compliance with MEAL standards.

B. Accountability to Affected Populations:

• Ensure that complaint and feedback mechanisms (CFMs) are functional and accessible at all project locations.

• Collect, record, and analyze complaints and feedback from beneficiaries and affected communities.

• Participate in community awareness sessions to raise awareness about accountability mechanisms and beneficiary rights.

C. Support project teams:

• Collaborate with technical and programming teams to provide feedback based on field data.

• Support program teams in understanding performance indicators and improving the quality of implementation of activities based on monitoring results.

2: Office tasks (40%)

A. Data Management and Reporting:

• Enter, clean and analyze data collected from the field using Excel, Power BI or other programs.

• Preparing regular reports summarizing the key findings, trends, challenges, recommendations, complaints and feedback.

• Track progress against project indicators and identify any gaps or deviations.

B. Support learning and development:

• Document lessons learned, good practices and success stories from project implementation.

• Participate in performance review meetings and make recommendations based on MEAL findings.

C. MEAL Tools and System Support:

• Contribute to the design and updating of data collection tools and methodologies tailored to project activities.

• Review MEAL tools and ensure their effectiveness in measuring the required indicators and community feedback.

Background Knowledge & Experience

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience working in MEAL within humanitarian projects

Trainings: Training in humanitarian principles, accountability to affected populations (AAP), MEAL fundamentals, data collection methods, Excel, and report writing.

Languages: English: B2 Arabic: C2
