Senior Project Coordinator (My Forest Child) (Anywhere in Asia) At Save the Children

Are you an experienced and proactive project manager or coordinator with great interpersonal skills and an interest in innovative climate and environmental action?

My Forest Child is a unique project that conducts three types of activities: tree-planting; enhancing the climate resilience of vulnerable communities; support for child/youth-led campaigning. To finance these activities, My Forest Child aims to generate sustainable revenue from donations, grants, and the marketing of carbon credits as part of its CO2 reduction and offsetting service.

The senior project coordinator will help drive this innovative initiative from its pilot project phase in Nepal and Pakistan towards its public launch and expansion. The role holder will work with various Save the Children teams and external partners to ensure that activities are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality, ethical standards.

This is a home-based, part-time position with the possibility of contract renewal and expansion to a full-time role after one year.

Role Purpose:

My Forest Child is a unique and innovative project that envisages a carbon reduction and offsetting service for corporates and individuals that generates revenue from donations, grants, and the sale of carbon credits. This revenue will be used to fund three types of activities: tree-planting to restore ecosystems and enable climate adaptation activities; interventions to support climate-vulnerable communities especially women and girls; support for child/youth-led climate and environmental campaigning.

The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of the My Forest Child project, ensuring effective planning and successful implementation of relevant activities in participating countries (initially Nepal and Pakistan) and relevant regional and country teams.

Under the supervision and strategic direction of the Asia Regional Advocacy and Campaigns Director, the Senior Project Coordinator’s responsibilities include working closely with relevant project focal points and other key Save the Children staff to prepare and implement project plans, including monitoring and, when necessary, updating timeframes and budgets.

The Senior Project Coordinator will also liaise with Save the Children staff in member or global offices as well as external consultants and organizations as necessary. The post-holder will also support fundraising efforts including by monitoring and identifying fundraising opportunities, developing concept notes, and coordinating inputs to funding proposals.

The postholder will perform various tasks to support effective management of the project, such as time and risk management, internal reporting, along with administrative duties such as maintaining project documentation, handling financial and administrative queries as well as monitoring and updating budgets. To succeed in this role, the postholder should have excellent time management, numeracy, collaboration, and communication skills.

Ultimately, the Senior Project Coordinator will ensure that all activities are completed on time, within budget, and meet high quality standards

Key Areas of Accountability: * Under the direction of the Regional Advocacy and Campaigns Director, provides leadership, guidance and support to project staff as well as relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure the project is implemented effectively according to agreed plans and deadlines. * Responsible for overall coordination of programme implementation. Ensures that all activities progress in accordance with agreed plans, are completed on time and within budget * Organises regular meetings with the My Forest Child project team and partners, and provides updates to the overall project lead (the Regional Advocacy and Campaigns Director). * Ensures project monitoring and evaluation in line with organisational and donor requirements, as well as SC policies and procedures * Leads the review and periodic revision of the overall project management and implementation plan and supports the review, and periodic revision of equivalent plans in participating countries. * Ensures preparation of timely and high-quality reports for internal reporting processes as required. * Collaborates with MEAL colleagues to ensure quality project benchmarks and a learning agenda are established and developed appropriately. * Compiles and communicates programme learning (through document sharing, presentations, etc) internally to provide guidance and technical input on strategic directions and programme design, and externally with key stakeholders (e.g. donors) if necessary. * Supports and coordinates fundraising efforts, especially the development of concept notes and funding proposals for institutional donors.

Other Significant Duties: * Ensures that project staff and partners are providing all beneficiaries of the project with ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct. Ensure project implementation in line with SCI safe programming principles * Ensures measures to promote accountability to beneficiaries and other stakeholders, meaningful child/youth participation, and mechanisms for systems for complaints handling and feedback channels are integrated into the project at the national level

Educational qualifications: * Graduate degree in any discipline

Experience and Skills: * 5+ years of work experience in project coordination/management * 5+ years’ experience in successfully establishing and managing collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders * 3+ years of work experience in the field of advocacy, communications, fundraising, or donor engagement * Demonstrated experience in working on environmental issues including environmental restoration or climate change is desirable. * Understanding of and commitment to SCI aims, values, and principles including rights-based approaches * Knowledge of and experience in effective financial and budgetary control * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills * Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
