Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Finance and Programs Coordinator, the Accounting Analyst plays a key role within our teams both internationally and at headquarters. They are responsible for accounting, auditing, and ensuring compliance with financial management standards and procedures, as well as monitoring and verifying the financial reports of the international projects assigned to them.
Main responsibilities
- Supports the project accounting cycle;
- Ensures the application of contractual rules stipulated in project contribution agreements and compliance with the organization’s administrative and financial procedures;
- Collects and analyzes program cash flow forecasts in order to confirm the necessary fund transfers for overseas operations;
- Produces and/or controls project financial reports and prepares funding requests to donors;
- Supports project teams with regard to contractual, administrative and financial rules and procedures and participates in meetings related to budget analysis;
- Contributes to the updating, development and improvement of financial and administrative policies, procedures and tools.
And, generally, performs any other related task that is useful or necessary at the request of the organization.
Desired profile
- College or university education in a relevant field (accounting, financial management, administration, project management), or an equivalent combination of education, professional training and experience;
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience;
- Strong motivation for association, sense of international solidarity, adherence to the values ​​and mission of ASF Canada;
- Strong ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, interpersonal skills, and intelligence;
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, rigor and resourcefulness. Willingness to self-manage work, to work a flexible schedule – sometimes under pressure – and to travel if necessary;
- Good oral and written communication skills in French and Spanish;
- Proficiency in office computer tools, in particular accounting and word processing software, email, the Internet and databases;
- To have the right to work in Canada.
Strengths
- Work experience in project-based financial management and multi-currency accounting;
- Experience or skills in dealing with governmental, institutional or private donors in the field of international cooperation;
- Work or cooperation experience in a fragile state or in a developing or conflict-affected country.
Working conditions
- Fixed-term employment (12 months);
- Three or four weeks of annual vacation, depending on experience;
- Holidays offered during the holiday period;
- Ten work-life balance leave days;
- A hybrid working method;
- Flexible working hours from Monday to Friday;
- Short-term teleworking abroad is permitted.
