Campaign Officer At Climate Action Network

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position sits in the CAN International (CAN-I) Building Power Department and reports to the Head Building Power Department and will work closely with Global Lead: Network Development and Movement Support and other team members in the department.

The person will be responsible for the following areas of work:

Support the strategic development and implementation of global network campaigns:

  • Support the integration of global campaigns in CAN’s overall strategy and linkages to the network’s political and advocacy work.
  • Support development, coordination and implementation of CAN’s campaign/s.
  • Support the decentralisation of our digital campaigning of CAN and with our nodes and members in the network.
  • Support the development and implementation of campaigning and organising capacity-building programmes as required.
  • Support the development of campaign-related communications materials for external-facing CAN international products in close collaboration with Head of department and Communication team
  • Support the campaign partnership work and movement building within the network and with allies.

Contribute to building the institutional campaign architecture and approaches
for the CAN network

  • Support Nodes in their campaign strategy development processes.
  • Support the coordination of CAN’s annual global mobilisation campaign moments with allies.
  • Help with the coordination of campaign actions and activities in the multilateral spaces, including amongst others, Fossil of the Day, etc
  • In collaboration with the Head of Department and the Communication team help with the development of campaign content for all CAN’s platforms e.g. website and social media
  • Provide strategic support in strengthening “the link between policy and people” in our work.

Contribute towards thematic work areas with close guidance from the Head of Building Power Department including:

  • Engage in cross-departmental work with teams on thematic pillars especially Disrupting Dirty Pillar.
  • Support the regular convening of nodes around joint global priority work areas and support the socialization, creation and fostering of linkages among the work of nodes and enhanced strategic collaboration for network cohesion and impact.
  • Keep an overview of Nodes key areas of work and priorities and systematically feed this information into the work of CAN-I.
  • Facilitate the systematic information-sharing between Nodes and CAN-I in close collaboration with the Head of Department

Other responsibilities

  • Support the Global Lead: Network Development and Movement Support and the Head of Department in the preparation and coordination of Action Coordination Groups calls or physical meetings. Where requires help facilitate ACG meetings.
  • Keep a good overview of Nodes, their work, institutional status quo and
    priorities to ensure that the CAN’s work is informed by a good
    understanding of Nodes and can contribute to impactful network
    cohesion in a node-driven network
  • Support the organisation of online and offline workshops, trainings, and conferences in collaboration with regional and national nodes and/or partners, including the coordination of logistics, content and the facilitation of specific sessions.
  • Work with the CAN Secretariat in general preparations for and coordination of the network’s activities.
  • Work with Comms team to update content of Building Power on CAN’s website in close coordination with Head of Department.
  • Represent the secretariat in relevant meetings/events/ as appropriate.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, and actively contribute to fundraising, reporting, knowledge management and monitoring, evaluation and learning efforts of CAN.
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks as assigned by the line-manager as appropriate.
