UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is recruiting an Associate Web Content Management Officer, a full-time position within the Digital Service in the Division of External Relations in our Copenhagen, Denmark office. Title: Associate Web Content Management Officer Duty Station: Copenhagen, Denmark Duration: As soon as possible until December 2023 Contract Type: UNOPS International Specialist, Level IICA 1 (P2 equivalent or Local Specialist Level LICA-9)

Organizational context The contractor will operate within the Digital Service (DS), which sits in the Division of External Relations (DER). The Digital Service advises on, creates and delivers digital strategies and solutions for engaging with UNHCR’s primary audiences, including the public, partners, governments, refugees and staff. As part of its responsibilities, DS oversees UNHCR’s global web presence, partnering with the Global Communication Service (GCS) and other stakeholders within the organization to ensure that website strategy delivers effectively on the organization’s communications goals.

In 2021, in order to optimize UNHCR’s web presence, DS initiated a multi-year project to migrate a large number of websites to a common, Drupal-based content management platform. The project is currently in the development phase, with a key cluster of websites scheduled to migrate from UNHCR’s custom-built CMS to Drupal between Autumn 2022 and Spring 2023. These include the global websites in English, Arabic, French and Spanish. Within this context, the Associate Web Content Management Officer will be responsible for content management tasks required for this migration, supporting in the clean-up of content prior to migration, manual migration of selected content, and cleaning up and optimizing content layout on the new platform. In addition, the role will support on day-to-day content management on UNHCR’s global English and French sites, following UNHCR standards and web publishing best practice. In addition to DS team members, this role will coordinate closely with the Multimedia Content Section in GCS as well as subject matter specialists across the organization.

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Communications Officer (Web Content), the Associate Web Content Management Officer be responsible for web content management on the global English and French sites. Duties will include the following: Project-based: • Support in the clean-up of UNHCR’s global English web content in preparation for migration to the new platform • Manual migration of selected content • Post-migration optimization of content layout on the new CMS • Support and guidance to other web editors as needed Business as usual: This role will work to ensure that content on UNHCR’s global sites is up-to-date and following UNHCR standards and web publishing best practice. The specific responsibilities of this role will be as follows: • Publishing content on UNHCR global sites (English and French) in response to request from teams throughout the organization • Providing support and advice to teams on how best to shape content for publication based on guidelines outlined in the web strategy • Supporting the web team and communications officer in doing light editing and copywriting of provided content as needed • Regular monitoring and curating site content for issues including broken links, outdated figures or documents, publishing errors etc. • Assisting with online monitoring of UNHCR country sites to ensure quality and consistency • Providing support on team projects varying from, but not limited to, support activity on selected WordPress sites, online research activities, reporting from website analytics, etc.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required:

a. Education (Level and area of required and/or preferred education) • Minimum of a Bachelor’s level or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, International Relations, or other related field.

b. Work Experience Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with Bachelor’s degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Masters degree; or 1 year relevant experience with Doctorate (PhD).

Demonstrable experience in the following would be an asset: • Experience managing web content using WordPress, Drupal or similar CMS • Experience using web analytics tools to monitor and report on web performance • Experience using Adobe Acrobat or similar document editing tools

c. Key Competencies Required: • Demonstrated experience publishing website content and managing website updates • Excellent communication, inter-personal and stakeholder management skills • Excellent written and verbal English skills • Advanced level of French language • Good organizational skills • Detail-oriented • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Desired: • Editing and copywriting skills (English language)

Location: The role will be based in UNHCR Copenhagen, Denmark.

Conditions: This position is initially up to the end of 2023, with the possibility of extension pending performance and budget availability. It is a full-time role, 40 hours per week.
