Providing good care for refugees starts with strong teams and well-organized volunteers. As a volunteer coordinator, you’ll ensure our volunteers are well-prepared, supported, and guided. In this role, you’ll be responsible for volunteer management within our organization and, based in the Netherlands, carry out various organizational, administrative, and logistical tasks to support our teams in Greece.

We are close by and offer humanity, equality, and a safe haven amidst inhumane and unsafe situations. We advocate for the interests of refugees and thus contribute to humane reception and living conditions.

You’ll coordinate the entire volunteer flow for the Boat Refugee Foundation’s relief efforts in Greece: from the moment a volunteer registers until they return home. You’ll ensure volunteers feel connected and help them become ambassadors for our organization, so they’ll want to volunteer again and inspire others to volunteer and support our work. Recruiting new volunteers (medical professionals, MHPSS professionals, and support crew) is also part of your responsibilities. You’ll also recruit and support volunteers who work remotely to support the organization in other areas.

Your duties will include:

- Maintaining and expanding collaborations with partners (e.g. hospitals, healthcare institutions, volunteer platforms).
- Supporting policy, strategy, and volunteer vitality; organizing coaches, psychosocial support, and meetings.
- Managing volunteer administration and information provision.
- Manage the planning staff and collaborate on successful project execution.

- Decisive, independent, and flexible; you also handle ad hoc tasks.
- Excellent oral and written skills in Dutch and English.
- Sociable, a real team player, networker and clear in communication.
- Technically savvy and a problem-solver: you work independently with Google Workspace and other digital tools and actively seek solutions when something isn’t working.
- Critical and creative: you dare to think outside the box, discuss organizational issues and propose improvements.
