DCAF contributes to making peace and development more sustainable by assisting partner states and international actors supporting these states, to improve the governance of their security sector through inclusive and participatory reforms. It creates innovative knowledge products, promotes norms and good practices, provides legal and policy advice and supports capacity‐building of both state and non‐state security sector stakeholders.
DCAF’s Cybersecurity programme, implemented by the Europe and Asia Entity, aims to support good governance in cybersecurity. The programme contributes to making cybersecurity responsive and effective by working with cybersecurity actors from the public and private sector on improving law and policies, stakeholder cooperation and the effective provision and oversight of cybersecurity. To this end, the programme provides advice and research, organises technical trainings and workshops and organises stakeholder exchanges.
The Cybersecurity programme is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual for its activities in Albania to be our next Junior Project Officer
- Location: Tirana, Albania
- Starting date: As soon as possible
- Duration: 6 months fixed-term contract (until 31 December 2026), with possibility of extension
- Work rate 80-100%
The role
The Junior Project Officer reports to the Programme Manager Albania and supports the Programme Manager Albania and Programme Manager Kosovo. In particular, the incumbent will work with the Programme Managers for Albania and for Kosovo on implementing cybersecurity capacity building activities in Albania, Kosovo and in the Western Balkan region. The incumbent will also support activities related to gender and cybersecurity in the region.
Key areas of operation:
- Provide administrative and logistics support to the Programme Manager Albania and Programme Manager Kosovo in the organisation of events: identify and engage external service providers; draft and manage contract for external service providers; manage activity budgets; attend project activities in Albania and in Kosovo and occasionally throughout the Western Balkan region and support the Programme Managers in the logistical aspects of organising an event.
- Draft a variety of project related documents (project proposals, donor reports, fact sheets, etc.).
- Conduct research on project-related topics.
Your experience
- Previous experience in supporting project management (in particular financial and logistical management as well as monitoring, evaluation and learning) in democratization or related fields;
- Knowledge of security sector governance, cybersecurity governance and policy change in Albania and Kosovo;
- Intercultural awareness and ability to understand stakeholders engaged in cybersecurity governance;
- Fluent in speech and writing in English and Albanian;
- Master level in political science, international relations, law or other related fields;
- A valid work permit for Albania at the time of application is a pre-requisite.
