The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the ED is Save the Children Thailand Foundation’s (SCT) visionary and leader, who will inspire and engage a wide range of stakeholders, from staff and volunteers, to government agencies, to corporate and philanthropic donors, to commit to our mission to prioritize children’s rights, their voices and their needs. The ED will build the capabilities required to accelerate impact and continue to build a strong reputation for SCT Foundation in a rapidly changing environment. As the public face of SCT Foundation, the CEO demonstrates commitment, involvement and engagement within Thailand and across stakeholders. Leading a child rights-based organization, the ED safeguards children’s rights and acts in the best interests of children at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy: The ED develops, drives and delivers the organizational strategy for Save the Children Thailand Foundation, in alignment with Save the Children’s global strategy and priorities, ensuring the organization achieves annual targets in programming, advocacy, fundraising, marketing and communication.
- Impact for Children: The ED should ensure that Save the Children Thailand Foundation’s programming and advocacy activity is of a high quality and aligned with the Save the Children global standards, to deliver impact for those children facing the greatest inequities, at scale.
- Advocacy & External Relations: The ED is the chief advocate for child rights, influencing public debate, government policy and philanthropic investment. The ED needs to seek and build strategic partnerships with other organisations that can help Save the Children achieve its mission, including domestic service providers, international NGOs, government agencies, major donors and the media. The ED ensures the organization amplifies the voice and the rights of children.
- Brand and Reputation: The ED has overall responsibility for protecting and enhancing the profile and brand of Save the Children Thailand Foundation, via media appearances and top-level engagement with Government, business, the general public and other NGOs, where appropriate using online and mobile platforms to deliver key messages.
- Revenue Generation: The ED is expected to maintain and grow the revenue base of the organisation, including unrestricted funding. This will require mobilizing investment to innovate and test new fundraising approaches and methods where appropriate while optimising the existing revenue generation tools and ensuring the right mix of income to have a sustainable, effective The ED will help build a network of institutional, corporate, celebrity, foundation, public and high net worth individual donors in Thailand.
- Internal relationships: The ED will foster positive and collaborative working relationships with Save the Children International and with other Save the Children members, and will ensure that the organisation actively participates in the global Save the Children movement and meets the standards required. In particular, the ED will work closely with the SCT Senior Management Team and staff to ensure that SCT provides quality services and support to the SCI Sub-Regional Hub in Bangkok with its affiliated programs.
- Board and Chair: The ED will establish a strong relationship with the Board of Directors, and in particular – the Board Chair, reporting key developments to the Board in a timely manner and seeking support and advice when Together with the Chair, the ED should enable the Board to maximize its potential and fulfil its functions and ensure that the Board receives appropriate and timely information and advice in all relevant matters.
- Management and Financial Oversight: The ED has overall responsibility for the organisational management, financial performance, compliance and accountability of Save the Children Thailand Foundation. The ED will ensure that the organisation adheres to all relevant national laws as well as legal agreements with national and international affiliates.
- Building the Team and Change Leadership: The ED will inspire, develop and motivate a high-performing team, leading and engaging existing senior managers while also attracting new talent to the organisation. The ED leads a strong senior management team to deliver an ambitious agenda and create an effective, diverse and inclusive culture
