The People Safeguarding and Inclusion “PSI” Unit was created to ensure safeguarding and inclusion obligations are fulfilled by staff members and other operational partners; and that policies and procedures are in place to build a healthy environment at all levels.

Mobility: All WaCA’s Interventions Zones

Objectives

The WaCA People Safeguarding and Inclusion “PSI” Unit is looking for a person to support the implementation of the safeguarding and inclusion policies.

Under the supervision of the head of the PSI unit, the person will be charged to develop, implement and supervise prevention and sensitization/training activities aiming at building an MSF WaCA environment free from abuse, discrimination, neglect and inappropriate behavior.

Main responsibilities / Activities

Her/him responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the Code of Conduct is included in the induction for newly recruited staff
  • Raise awareness of mission management about their role in creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all staff, patients, partners and communities.
  • Design, develop and adapt trainings (face to face and online) and other prevention tools such as:
    • Raising awareness on responsible behavior, staff health and safety
    • Patients and communities specific awareness sessions on abuse, neglect and inappropriate behavior and the existing complaint procedures
    • Staff and MoH sensitization and trainings and sensitization to enhance patients and communities protection
    • Workshop on identification and analysis of risks of abuse and inappropriate behavior
    • Train the trainers (safeguarding and behavior promoters for the facilitation of the trainings/sensitization sessions)
    • Welcoming the complainants and case management trainings
    • DEI trainings
    • etc
  • Establish an annual calendar of awareness raising to be carried out by behavior promoters
  • Gather information on progress and obstacles, the results achieved and analyse this information against the set objectives.
  • Organize the review of training content and methodologies based on lessons learned from experience and proposes adaptations of the training strategy accordingly.
  • Participate in the discussion and drafting of PoAs and the PSI Unit’s annual report.

Job requirements

Education / Qualification / Pre-requisites

  • University (social sciences or related studies)

· Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver trainings

  • Good team-player, flexible, ability to work independently, ability to manage conflict
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive situations and confidential information diplomatically and discreetly

Professional experience required

· Minimum two years’ experience in safeguarding/protection and DEI field of work

  • Recognised experience in humanitarian sector
  • Experiences in the design of educational and adult training tools
  • Coordination of prevention activities
  • Essential working experience in developing countries

Languages Skills

  • · Both working proficiency in English and French

(According to the coordination responsibilities of the position in both French and English-speaking countries, the hired person must be able to easily communicate in both languages.)

  • · Knowledge of another language where MSF WaCA operates is an asset.

Computer Skills

  • MS Office suite (mainly MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
