Under the general supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, the coordination of the Head of the Migration Management Unit (MMU) and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator/Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) project “RI.VOL.A.RE. in RE.TE.”.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Manage the AVRR dedicated phone line and keep records of all the incoming calls;
- Provide regular information on the AVRR option in Italy to potential returnees in Italian, French, English, possibly also in Arabic and Spanish, and coordinate with IOM cultural mediators to provide information in other languages/dialects, if needed;
- Refer migrants to the national referral network (stakeholders) as appropriate;
- Support the Project Coordinator/Manager in the mapping of national associations and institutions involved in assisting migrants, available to be part of the referral system;
- When needed, provide support to the AVRR team in the daily tasks related to the execution of the project;
- If necessary, provide clerical support in the administrative work related to the execution of the project, in coordination with the Finance/Admin Unit (external bids, POs, payment requests, etc.);
- Perform other tasks related to the execution of the project, as assigned by the PM/ supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- High school diploma with three years of relevant professional experience, or
- University degree in International Relations, Law, Social, Political or Economic Sciences, Social Work, Migration or Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience interacting with the public
- Experience providing direct assistance to migrant populations
- Experience as an operator is an advantage
Skills
- Familiarity in dealing with the public
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with administrative procedures
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently
- Ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams
Languages
- Fluency in Italian, English and French is required (oral and written);
- Knowledge of Arabic and Spanish are considered an asset.
