An Assistant Information Systems Manager At International Federation for Human Rights

The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) is an NGO that brings together nearly 200 civil society organizations worldwide. Founded in 1922, it is committed to defending fundamental freedoms and the universality of rights as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Independent of any government and recognized for its expertise, the FIDH works to strengthen mechanisms for the protection of human rights and human rights defenders by conducting advocacy campaigns, investigating violations, and pursuing legal action. In all its activities, the FIDH integrates a gender-sensitive and anti-colonial approach. Its headquarters are located in Paris, and its teams are present in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. The FIDH also has delegations to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the European Union in Brussels, the United Nations in Geneva, and the African Union in Nairobi.

The IT department, primarily responsible for user support and managing the company’s servers (Active Directory, Keycloak, etc.), comprises two managers and two technicians, one of whom is an apprentice. It may be supplemented by interns as needed. The IT manager reports directly to the CEO.

We are recruiting an assistant information systems manager.

YOUR MAIN MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Within a diverse technical environment, although primarily focused on open-source software, the Deputy IT Manager will be responsible for:

A/ Manage the team and supervise user support

  • Conducting recruitment, annual performance reviews, and monitoring employee development,
  • Ensure the distribution of breakdowns within the team.
  • If acting as a tutor, ensure the tutoring of interns and apprentices.
  • Assisting technicians in the daily support of users.
  • Managing multi-user or structural problems (NTI2),
  • To train and support users.
  • Ensure an inventory of equipment.

B/ Support the office’s development in conjunction with the IT manager

  • Contribute to defining the strategy regarding information systems and data security,
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers within the framework of IT activities, projects and telephony, in conjunction with the purchasing manager.
  • Monitor and develop the projects planned in the department’s roadmap
  • Oversee equipment orders and deliveries,
  • Monitor the IT department’s budget and reporting,
  • To stand in for the IT manager in their absence.

C/ Ensure the operational/security maintenance of the information system elements.

  • To ensure the proper functioning, availability and security of the elements of the Information System and the services hosted by service providers,
  • Analyze and follow best practice guides for security,
  • To monitor technological developments and propose improvements.

PROFILE SOUGHT

Education level, experience

  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience as a systems and network administrator or 3 to 5 years in a management role with experience in management,
  • Good command of system aspects (Linux+Windows), networks, security and operational aspects.
  • Solid technical background in IT, telephony and networks.
  • Experience in CRM implementation, process harmonization, and IT security.

Skills (know-how, interpersonal skills)

  • Master’s degree in project management and incident management (ITIL),
  • Advanced knowledge of network technologies (LAN, WAN, VPN, Cloud), and system technologies (Debian, Windows 11),
  • Knowledge of ISO 2700X, Hardening Guide and other advanced security concepts,
  • Proficiency in DevOps technologies (IaC, SaaS…),
  • Proficiency in English (level B2) both written and spoken. Spanish would be an asset.
  • Organized, rigorous and methodical,
  • Versatile, with a strong sense of priorities,
  • Good interpersonal skills, good teacher
  • Ability to write processes and reports,

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Permanent full-time contract – 39 hours/week
  • Position based in Paris 11th arrondissement – ​​You will work from the FIDH office in Paris, in a vibrant and central area (near Bastille and Gare de Lyon). FIDH recognizes that flexible working arrangements are important for work-life balance and offers the possibility of teleworking after your probationary period.
  • Remuneration : from €52,000 gross per year over 13 months depending on experience.
