SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters by addressing their vital needs: water, food, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SI implements its interventions with expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential areas of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams—a total of 3,200 people including expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, and a few volunteers—operate with professionalism and dedication, respecting local cultures.
Main tasks of the internship:
Assist the Partnership & Operational Development Officers (RPDO) and the Head of Service in carrying out their tasks at the Geographic desks and within the Partnership & Operational Development Service (SPDO) – with a priority focus on private donors and French decentralized cooperation
To provide support to Country Offices as a whole.
Main objectives of the internship:
- To know the different programs and areas of expertise of Solidarités International;
- To understand the humanitarian and geopolitical context of the areas concerned;
- Mastering the tools related to the management of the different management cycles: subsidies, projects, implementation partnerships, financing, etc.
- Mastering the internal procedures of Solidarités International and the rules of the main donors of humanitarian aid;
- Ensuring the link and flow of information between the different stakeholders (desk, headquarters, field).
Main tasks:
- Assist the Partnership & Operational Development Referents (RPDO) and the Service Manager in the following tasks:
- Support and guidance to Country Offices in managing grants and implementing partnerships, including the development of project proposals and reports for donors.
- Support for administrative tasks necessary for the program/grant management of the Country Offices or the PDO department
- Landlord Intelligence (compliance, development and engagement), notably through the production of internal documents, formats or capitalization notes, and through participation in certain meetings
- Internal Coordination
Contributions of the internship:
- Discover how the headquarters of an NGO operates and the relationships between headquarters and the field;
- Discover the different jobs at Solidarités International, both at headquarters and in the field;
- Gaining an initial understanding of how a mission functions and its specific constraints;
- Understanding the humanitarian and geopolitical issues of the countries in the Desk;
- To deepen the concepts of priority analysis and needs identification;
- Understanding the relationships between the different humanitarian actors;
- Know the main requirements and procedures of funding agencies;
- Understand and review certain project cycle management tools;
- Discover the strategic planning process of an NGO and the development of the strategy;
- Communicate directly with the field;
- Discover the strategy of an NGO and how it is developed;
- Mastering the procedures of Solidarités International.
To deepen technical knowledge related to the sectors of intervention of Solidarités International and to participate in the various sector briefing meetings
Higher education (bac +5 level) preferably focused on project management and/or humanitarian work, political science or international relations, with knowledge of water issues, food security or rehabilitation;
– Genuine interest and motivation for community and humanitarian work – Willingness to go into the field in the short term.
– International work experience preferred;
– Excellent writing, summarizing and spelling skills;
– Critical and analytical thinking, autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, versatility, significant work capacity;
– Computer skills: Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Internet and email (Outlook);
– Fluent English.
Internship based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy (92), near the Mairie de Clichy metro station
Internship with mandatory internship agreement.
Compensation: 4.70 euros/hour
The bonus is calculated pro rata based on the actual hours worked during the month. (On average, 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
Public transport costs are 50% covered by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
Meal vouchers at €8.90 per day of internship, with 60% contribution from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
