Organization Background

Collateral Repair Project (CRP) is a grassroots effort in Amman, Jordan that has provided much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities since 2006. We seek to assist those in need, foster social cohesion, offer learning opportunities, and help in building peace and reconciliation. Our services are provided regardless of background, and we currently provide assistance to people from many nationalities (e.g. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia).

CRP’s holistic approach involves deep community engagement, where we help individuals build resilience and heal from trauma. At our Family Resource and Community Centers, CRP provides a variety of educational, recreational, and wellness activities, which aid our community to gain skills and build community. Additionally, we provide community service and leadership opportunities for people to serve others, which has proven to be a key driver of empowerment and resilience. CRP’s greatest strengths are the deep knowledge and trust we have established with the community we serve, our commitment to community-based engagement, and our ability to develop nuanced, cost-effective, and impactful programs.

Position Description

Based at the Downtown Amman CRP Community Center, the main role of the Assistant Program Officer is to provide direct implementation and managerial support for drop-in activities and training courses at CRP’s community centers.

This position will have responsibility for programs and activities that engage children and teenagers and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for a young person to take on more responsibility and further develop managerial, oversight, and community development skills in a grassroots setting.

The Assistant Officer will report directly to a CRP’s Lead Program Officer and is responsible for activities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee CRP community center programming and ensure programs, spending, and progress toward deliverables are of the highest professional quality
  • Conducting all Program Administrative tasks, including excellent attendance documentation and review; and program volunteer recruitment, management, and payment
  • Leading regular outreach campaigns to target new audiences, and regularly informing community members of existing and new drop-in activities offered at CRP centers
  • Collect monthly feedback from program officers, community volunteers, and program participants to continuously improve the program
  • Troubleshooting any program challenges and proactively addressing them in coordination with the team

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 year college degree in social sciences, education, business administration or any related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience working in project administration or management
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Experience working with refugees or other vulnerable populations (highly desirable)
  • Experience working with children and teenagers (highly desirable)
  • Experience managing staff or interns (highly desirable)
  • Experience in administrative tasks and processing data (desirable)

Part Time, 16-20 hours per week. Salary range is JD 200-250 per month.
