Acted
For 30 years, Acted has been working on the front lines of humanitarian action to save lives. Acted supports more than 27 million people in 43 countries, responding to their needs in hard-to-reach areas, while pursuing a triple mandate as a humanitarian, environmental, and development actor. Acted draws on a deep understanding of local contexts to develop and implement long-term actions, in collaboration with a wide range of local and international partners, to collectively build a 3ZERO world: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, and Zero Poverty.
Acted Burkina Faso
The northern regions of Burkina Faso currently present a fragile political and security situation, marked in particular by a complex multidimensional crisis. As of early 2021, there were just over one million internally displaced persons in the country.
Acted’s mission in Burkina Faso began in 2019 to provide support to populations affected by the security and humanitarian crisis, to provide its expertise in rapid response and emergency situations, while strengthening response capacities and coordination between humanitarian and development actors.
Acted Burkina Faso’s interventions are multisectoral, flexible, and inclusive, aiming to address the urgent needs of the population. From its earliest interventions, Acted Burkina Faso has focused on the most essential humanitarian aid: responding to needs related to food security, water, hygiene, and sanitation (WASH), shelter and essential household items, and finally, the coordination and integration of protection. In parallel, and in response to the evolving humanitarian crisis, Acted supports the government in managing temporary and informal settlements. The REACH initiative enables the entire humanitarian community to strengthen the analysis of humanitarian needs, notably through a project monitoring the humanitarian situation in four regions, the implementation of a multisectoral country assessment to support the 2021 Humanitarian Response Organization (HNO) process, and territorial assessments.
In the northern region, Acted provides assistance in the areas of food security and livelihoods, water, hygiene and sanitation, shelter, and essential household items. Acted supports the government in managing the displacement sites in Ouahigouya and Seguenega. The organization plans to soon provide support to the logistics cluster in managing a humanitarian warehouse and sharing information with partners.
