About the Role
Jouri for Research and Consulting is recruiting a Business Development Manager (BDM) on behalf of a leading international development consultancy. The BDM will play a strategic role in driving business growth across the MENA region by securing new opportunities, building partnerships, and positioning the firm as a trusted partner to major international donors.
The successful candidate will manage the full business development cycle — from pipeline development and capture planning to proposal submission and client engagement — ensuring the firm maintains its competitive edge in a fast-evolving consulting landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategy
- Design and implement the business development strategy and operational plan.
- Lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle, including opportunity analysis, bid/no-bid decisions, and proposal development.
- Build and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline, aligned with strategic priorities.
- Provide market intelligence and donor insights to inform leadership decisions.
- Ensure compliance with donor procurement rules (EU, FCDO, World Bank, USAID, UN agencies).
Partnerships & Representation
- Establish and nurture partnerships with international consulting firms, NGOs, think tanks, and experts.
- Represent the firm at donor meetings, conferences, and sectoral events.
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients and contribute to long-term account strategies.
Proposal Development
- Coordinate technical experts, finance teams, and partners for high-quality, compliant proposals.
- Oversee quality assurance of technical and financial bids.
- Develop and refine internal tools, SOPs, and templates for proposal preparation.
Leadership & Capacity Building
- Manage and mentor junior staff, consultants, and interns within the BD team.
- Support the firm in diversifying into new markets and services.
- Capture lessons learned to improve future performance.
Marketing & Visibility
- Prepare tailored marketing collateral, capability statements, and success stories.
- Contribute to communications efforts to enhance the firm’s thought leadership and visibility.
- Build the company’s profile across digital platforms and professional networks.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6–8 years of proven business development experience in international development consultancy.
- Track record of winning large-scale contracts funded by EU, FCDO, World Bank, USAID, UN agencies, and other donors.
- Strong expertise in humanitarian and development programming (e.g., monitoring and evaluation, governance, resilience, peacebuilding).
- Experience in leading consortia bids and managing donor compliance.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English (another UN language is an advantage).
- Postgraduate degree in international development, economics, political science, management, or related field.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and proposal management systems.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
