WORK CONTEXT
In response to the emergency caused by the recent earthquake in Venezuela, CESVI considers the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents affected by the crisis a priority. Child-Friendly Spaces offer safe, protective, and stabilizing environments where children can access play, recreational, educational, and psychosocial support activities. To ensure their proper implementation, CESVI requires a Facilitator responsible for energizing the space, providing first-line emotional support, and contributing to psychosocial recovery through the right to play and continued learning.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensure the daily implementation and facilitation of recreational, play-based, and academic enrichment activities within the Child-Friendly Space, guaranteeing a safe, inclusive, protective, and stabilizing environment. The position will have a primary focus on emotional support, timely identification of protection risks, and the restoration of the psychosocial well-being of children affected by the emergency.
This position is subject to donor approval.

CONTRACTUAL CONDITIONS: According to CESVI’s salary scale and internal policies, based on the candidate’s experience and the mission context.
MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Emotional containment and Psychological First Aid (PFA): providing an initial response of emotional support to children and adolescents who present distress, crisis or signs of acute trauma, ensuring a warm, respectful and stabilizing treatment.
- Design and implementation of recreational activities: planning and executing daily schedules of recreational, sports and expressive activities aimed at releasing tension, facilitating the expression of emotions and rebuilding a sense of normality.
- Academic reinforcement: designing and implementing flexible leveling and school support strategies, promoting interest in learning and mitigating the effects of educational disruption.
- Case identification and management: observe and monitor the socio-emotional state of the participants; identify possible signs of stress, grief, violence, abuse, neglect or other risks of vulnerability, and promptly activate the established referral pathways.
- Protection and community participation: maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment; promoting the meaningful participation of children, adolescents and caregivers in the design and evaluation of activities, integrating families into the recovery processes.
- Inclusion and non-discrimination: adapting activities to the age, gender, disability, culture and specific needs of the participants, promoting equitable participation and accessibility.
- Registration and monitoring: maintain basic records of attendance, activities performed, incidents and referrals, strictly respecting the principles of confidentiality and data protection.
- Care of supplies: ensuring the proper use, inventory, care and maintenance of the play, educational, sports and stationery materials of the space.
- Coordination: working in a coordinated manner with the protection team, community staff and relevant actors, participating in meetings, training and follow-up spaces when required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Technical or university studies in Education, Pedagogy, Social Work, Psychology or related fields.
- Demonstrable experience of direct work with children and adolescents in community, educational or humanitarian contexts.
- Experience in the design and facilitation of recreational, sports, or school support activities.
- Practical experience in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and emotional containment.
- Knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, child protection principles, and trauma-sensitive approaches.
- Knowledge of protection routes, referral mechanisms and reporting procedures applicable to the emergency context.
- Ability to adapt educational and recreational methodologies to different ages, abilities and levels of vulnerability.
- Basic handling of registration and report generation tools.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Additional training in child protection, psychosocial support, emergency education or play-based methodologies will be valued.
- Previous experience in emergencies, disasters, displacement or highly vulnerable environments will be valued.

DATA PROTECTION AND CONFIDENTIALITY
The Child Protection Officer must ensure the safe, ethical, and confidential handling of all information related to children, adolescents, caregivers, and protection cases.
The unauthorized dissemination of personal data, photographs, testimonies, locations, life stories or any information that may put children, adolescents or their families at risk is strictly prohibited.
All information will be used solely for programmatic, protection and referral purposes, in accordance with the principles of necessity, proportionality, informed consent, the best interests of the child and do no harm.
SAFEGUARDING HEALTH
CESVI pays special attention to protecting the physical and mental health of all its personnel. Therefore, prior to deployment or recruitment, the organization may conduct a suitability assessment for the position and mission context, in accordance with its internal policies.
The Child Protection Officer must comply with the safety, health, welfare, risk prevention and operational protocols established by CESVI in Venezuela.
