Plan International is an independent humanitarian and development organization that promotes children’s rights and girls’ equality.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often stifled by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination. And girls are the most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we fight for a just world, addressing the root causes of the challenges faced by girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth to adulthood. We empower children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive change in practice and policy at the local, national, and global levels, leveraging our reach, experience, and expertise.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years and are now active in more than 80 countries.
Plan International is a development and humanitarian response organization whose mission is based on defending children’s rights and achieving substantive equality for girls. In Mexico, our work is vital to addressing protection challenges in contexts of human mobility and social vulnerability. We operate in Mexico City, Tapachula, Chiapas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, where our teams work to meet the direct needs of people in the context of human mobility and survivors of violence (returnees, refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced communities).
Our model is distinguished by its transformative gender approach. We not only seek to meet immediate needs, but also to guarantee the full exercise of the rights of girls and adolescents, fostering their leadership and active participation in decision-making. We work to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence—including sexual violence and harassment—challenging the social norms and power structures that perpetuate inequality. The goal is to create safe and equitable environments for them, their families, and their caregivers, who are essential pillars of the comprehensive protection system.
Under a strict Safeguarding Policy, Plan International Mexico ensures that every intervention and every member of our staff acts according to the highest standards of child protection. We promote absolute respect for human dignity, ensuring non-discrimination based on gender identity, age, disability, origin, or any other condition. We focus on eliminating the structural barriers that prevent children and adolescents from exercising their rights under conditions of equality and inclusion.
At Plan International Mexico, we transform humanitarian assistance into an opportunity to build a future where the dignity and rights of children are the priority in every corner of the country.
