COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is a secular and independent Italian humanitarian organization that fights all forms of poverty to improve the world. Founded in 1965, COOPI is currently present in 33 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East, with both emergency and development projects carried out by expatriate staff—an average of over 270 people per year—and national staff. The main institutional funders are the European Union (ECHO and INTPA), UN agencies, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), local authorities, and other European governments.
- Description of COOPI in the country
Since 1999, COOPI has been present in Colombia, supporting communities affected by armed conflict and natural disasters. As part of its action, COOPI, together with the allied organizations UNAD Universidad Nacional Abierta ya distancia and Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ, is currently a beneficiary of a project within the framework of the Amazonia+ Program , financed by the European Union and implemented by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation AICS, FIAP Cooperación Española, and Expertise France EF to carry out the implementation of the regional project “Amazonía Viva: regional articulation for the conservation and protection of its landscapes and ecosystems” , focused on the prevention of deforestation, environmental degradation and forest fires. The action will be implemented in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, with some activities to be carried out remotely in Venezuela and Brazil. The project will be coordinated from Colombia. The intervention is implemented in collaboration with national and local actors through capacity building, interregional dialogue, scientific research, and pilot projects in strategic landscapes in the Amazon. Over the years, COOPI has worked in key sectors such as protection (GBV, child protection, human trafficking), WASH, disaster risk reduction, and livelihoods, participating in humanitarian coordination spaces in all countries of interest.
- Job description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Outreach Campaigns Expert will be responsible for implementing and supervising the project’s communications component in accordance with the guidelines established in the Amazonia+ Program. The Outreach Campaigns Expert will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all actions aimed at school sessions and awareness-raising on Forest Fire Management. They will also be responsible for developing the required communication products.
- Areas of responsibility
- Strategically, methodologically, and technically develop the communications component of “Amazonía Viva” in close coordination with the work team and stakeholders.
- Develop project visibility materials, including branding, logos, and resources for project teams and activities.
- Manage the design and printing processes for materials derived from communication actions.
- Support the translation of campaign messages to each context so they are relevant and understood by diverse communities, if required.
- Develop the production of materials (radio spots, space management on community and local radio stations, as well as educational and informational brochures, posters, etc.) in coordination with the project team, addressing identified needs and opportunities.
- Support actions aimed at school sessions, as part of raising awareness about Forest Fire Management.
- Promote the support of UNAD and USFQ universities as strategic allies in the dissemination and monitoring of communication activities.
- Position the project on digital platforms, in dialogue with the project coordinator.
- Plan the required in-person and/or virtual events with the project coordinator.
Other responsibilities
- Provide general support in the presentation of infographics or presentations that are key to the project’s visibility.
- Validate the layout of systematization documents, best practices, publications, guides, manuals, and other documents relevant to the project.
- Desired Profile
Essential requirements: 50 points
- Bachelor’s degree and/or professional degree in communications, journalism or related fields: 20 points
- Minimum 1 year of experience in communication in development cooperation contexts 20 points
- Good command of image and video editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign or others) and command of digital communication tools (WordPress, social networks, Canva, etc.); 5 points
- Basic experience in content production for digital and traditional media (press releases, reports, social media, newsletters, etc.); 5 points

Desirable Requirements: 10 points
- Experience as a communicator with and/or in indigenous organizations. 5 points
- Using participatory methodologies to collect testimonies and conduct case studies in communities. 5 points.
