1. ABOUT BSF
BSF is an international non-governmental organization. Since 2007, BSF has been providing access to education, information, and culture to those deprived of them in more than 30 countries. Through the development of innovative mobile tools (ldeas Box, ldeas Cube), the selection of customized content, and the training and support of field workers, BSF aims to enable everyone, in all circumstances, to live with dignity through better access to knowledge.
2. BSF tools
Ideas Box and Micro-library:
It is a complete, turnkey educational and cultural space designed to be quickly installed in difficult contexts such as disaster areas, refugee camps, or disadvantaged neighborhoods. It contains books, tablets, computers, a video projector, a screen, game consoles, educational games, creative materials, digital resources, and teaching tools, and allows for the organization of reading, educational, training, and cultural activities for different audiences.
Ideas Cube :
It is a mobile and modular digital library mainly composed of a server, tablets and digital resources, ideal for promoting reading, learning and access to culture when space or resources are limited.
3. CONTEXT OF THE CONSULTANCY
Following the earthquake that struck Morocco in September 2023, many families and communities saw their living conditions and livelihoods weakened. To address these challenges, Libraries Without Borders (BSF) is deploying Micro-Libraries (MB) and Ideas Boxes (IDB) in disaster areas. These spaces aim to strengthen access to education, information, and culture, as well as to support populations in their social and economic reconstruction.
The ability to initiate small projects within a given territory is an essential lever for resilience. MB-IDB facilitators, in direct contact with communities, need concrete educational tools to raise awareness, inform, and support beneficiaries on these issues.
It is within this framework that BSF is launching a consultancy to develop an educational kit on the creation and management of micro-projects for young people aged 14 to 18.
4. OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCY
General objective
Provide facilitators with concrete and suitable educational tools to lead awareness and learning sessions on financial education and entrepreneurship.
Develop a practical and accessible educational kit for facilitators to provide them with tools (activity sheets), methods (training) and supports (all necessary resources) adapted to support young people aged 14 to 18 in the discovery, design and implementation of micro-projects, while promoting their creativity and spirit of initiative.
Specific objectives
The kit should enable facilitators to:
- Support young people in identifying a problem or need in their immediate environment (school, neighborhood, community).
- Guide young people in designing a simple, realistic micro-project adapted to their abilities and available resources.
- Introduce young people to basic budget management and responsible use of resources.
- Encourage the implementation and monitoring of the micro-project, by getting young people to reflect on their successes, difficulties and learning.
- Introduce young people to marketing (networks, advertising, communication, customers, etc.)
- Highlight the results obtained in order to strengthen young people’s confidence and their motivation to get involved in future initiatives.
Overall, the teaching kit should contain mediation advice on general attitudes to carry out the activities. The proposed activities do not impose any prerequisites regarding the level of project management of the facilitators or participants. The teaching kit proposes progressive levels of complexity regarding the themes covered. However, each sheet is independent: to lead an activity, it is not necessarily necessary to have carried out the previous activities.
5. Expected results
For facilitators:
- Provision of activity sheets to facilitate the running of sessions.
- Skills development and appropriation of participatory methods enabling young people to be supported in a micro-project approach
For young people:
- Better understanding of the stages of a project (from identifying a need to evaluation)
- Awareness of the skills needed for project management: teamwork, communication, organization, planning, problem solving.
- Anchoring in their immediate environment
6. Deliverables
- A user guide containing 7 to 10 activity sheets and offering an educational path for facilitators and sourcing around ten digital content (videos, audios, images, etc.) per sheet to support the animation of the activity. An activity sheet is a turnkey support for leading relevant activities with young people. The activities offered will be varied, including workshops, educational games, and the use of digital technologies to facilitate learning.
- A training session for BSF teams to enable the appropriation and implementation of the kit. All necessary materials will be provided.
7. Expected methodology
The product kit must be contextualized as much as possible, taking into account:
- The cultural and linguistic diversity of the territories,
- Limited availability of equipment at certain sites,
- The possible lack of internet connection,
- The need to offer inclusive, progressive activities, adapted to facilitators with varied profiles.
The consultant will be coordinated by the Morocco technical advisor, with the support of the Morocco program manager. One or more meetings may take place with the project manager. A scoping meeting is planned at the start of the mission in the presence of BSF operational teams, where the schedule, coordination and validation bodies for deliverables will be decided jointly.
8. DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE MISSION
- Indicative duration:Â 25 to 35 days (including framing, design, testing and finalization).
