And what about the Country Director in all of this?
As Country Director, you will be responsible for the smooth operation and development of the mission. To this end, your responsibilities will be as follows:
- Security: You will be responsible for security on the mission
- Programs: You will coordinate the teams and ensure the proper implementation of programs on the mission, you will monitor needs and propose new interventions and avenues for development for the mission.
- Human Resources: You will ensure the correct human resources sizing for the mission and will supervise the teams (defining objectives, monitoring).
- Logistics, administrative and financial monitoring: You will ensure that the logistics and administrative practices in place comply with PUI procedures and formats and are in line with Donor rules.
- Medical and technical monitoring: You will ensure that medical and technical practices comply with PUI procedures and formats and are in line with the PUI intervention policy.
- Representation: You will represent the association to partners, donors, media and various authorities.
- Relations with Headquarters: You will ensure the smooth flow of information between headquarters and the field and you will ensure that deadlines are met.

- Negotiation and management of administrative authorizations and mandatory annual negotiations

What you will need to succeed
- Education : you can demonstrate a higher education degree (min. Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to humanitarian action: project management, technical training related to one of our intervention sectors, human resources management, financial management, etc.
- Experience : You have at least three years of field experience in an international NGO, coordinating projects. Experience managing expatriate teams, project management, and security management is essential. Have you previously held a Country Director or equivalent position in an international NGO? This would be highly valued. Have you previously worked with Première Urgence Internationale? This would be a significant advantage!
- Skills : You are proficient in humanitarian project management and team management, and you have in-depth knowledge of the main donors. You possess excellent writing skills.
- Required qualities : You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and enjoy working in a team. You exhibit leadership and decision-making abilities, reliability and a strong sense of responsibility, rigor and organization, responsiveness and adaptability. You have excellent stress resistance and the ability to work under pressure.
- Languages : French and English hold no secrets for you? Great, that’s essential for this position! If you also speak Arabic, that will be a definite asset as well.

PUI will offer you
- Status: Manager on a fixed-term contract
- Gross monthly salary: €3,330.00 – €3,730.00 depending on your experience in international solidarity + €50 per six-month period of service with PUI
- Insurance including medical and supplementary health coverage, 24/7 assistance, repatriation and personal risk insurance
- Accommodation in a detached house
- Living expenses (“Per Diem”)
- Break schedule: 5 working days for 3-month assignments + break bonus
- Paid Leave Scheme: 5 weeks of paid leave per year + return airfare to home every 6 months (for contracts of 8 months or more)
