We are currently recruiting a Country Director to lead our Yemen Country Office team.
This is a country-based position with frequent travel within Yemen, and some travel to Europe as requested. The role is a fixed-term international position, with possibility of extension. Contract terms, salary and benefits will be discussed at HR Interview stage.

About the Opportunity
The Country Director – Yemen will lead Relief International’s country mission through a dynamic and evolving operating environment, ensuring high-quality programme delivery, strategic growth, and strong organizational performance. Working closely with the Yemen Senior Management Team, global support teams, donors, government authorities, UN agencies and partners, the Country Director will provide strategic leadership, representation, fundraising and oversight of a multi-sector portfolio across the country.
Your Responsibilities
This role includes the following responsibilities.
- Lead and deliver the strategic vision for Relief International’s Yemen mission, ensuring programmes remain relevant, impactful and aligned with evolving humanitarian needs.
- Oversee programme implementation, financial stewardship, compliance, operational performance and resource allocation to ensure quality and timely delivery of results.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, government authorities, UN agencies, clusters, partners and other stakeholders to secure funding and strengthen RI’s influence and reputation.
- Ensure effective risk, safety and security management, promoting a strong duty of care culture and maintaining appropriate security systems and procedures.
- Lead, mentor and develop national and international teams, fostering a high-performing, inclusive and accountable working environment. Frequent travel within Yemen and occasional travel internationally is required.
About You
You will bring the following experience and skills.
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Substantial proven experience providing country-level leadership for multi-sector humanitarian and/or development programmes in complex operating environments.
- Strong experience overseeing programme implementation, operational delivery, project management and organizational performance.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor engagement and managing grants from institutional donors, including USAID, ECHO and UN agencies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, negotiation and strategic planning skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proven leadership experience with strong coaching, mentoring, performance management and team development capabilities.
- Professional fluency in English is essential.
- Experience in Yemen, Arabic language skills, advocacy and media engagement, and sector experience in Health, Protection, WASH or Livelihoods are desirable.
