World Service has been present in Colombia since 2002 and in Venezuela since 2019. Through the Colombia-Venezuela Binational Program, it is currently implementing the “For Hope and a Future” Strategy (2025-2031), focused on three strategic areas: 1. Protection and Social Cohesion, 2. Climate and Resilient Livelihoods, and 3. Quality Services, with a focus on the Nexus between emergencies, recovery, and development. Our partners in Colombia and Venezuela include community-based, ethnic, peasant, and women’s organizations. Our allies include members of the ACT Alliance and the Forum of Humanitarian Organizations. We are supported by donors such as ECHO, the European Commission, and United Nations agencies, among others. Description of the area to which the position is limited
The position falls under the LWF/SM COL-VEN Program and Strategy Area, which is led by the Senior Program and Strategy Manager. The position reports directly to the Program Officer and will maintain close coordination with the LWF/SM COL-VEN programmatic and administrative team.
Coordinates his work with:
- Programmatic and financial project team
- Support team for the Arauca, Chocó and Bogotá DC Regions
- Administrative, Financial, Operations and Programmatic Staff of the LWF/SM COL VEN
Location
Based in the Bogotá office . However, you must be available to travel to the departments or states where FLM/SM COL-VEN operates, both within the country and abroad, and where the duties inherent to your position are required.
Purpose of the position
Contribute to the strategic and operational development of the communications and advocacy area of ​​the LWF/SM COL-VEN and work together with the Coordination of the area for the visibility of the LWF/SM COL-VEN.
Description of activities:
LEADERSHIP
- Contribute to the updating and monitoring of the communications and advocacy strategy
- Actively participate in the development and monitoring of the annual communications action plan.
- Ensure compliance with LWF/SM COL-VEN visibility standards in the program’s communication and visibility products, in coordination with office staff.
- Advise and support the management team and advocacy area in strategic and communication decisions for the Colombia-Venezuela Program.
- Contribute to communication alliances for peace and development with organizations partnering with the Binational Program.
MANAGEMENT
- Development and updating of institutional visibility materials (Strategy 2025-2030, program brochure, institutional posters, backgrounder, Press Kit, Crisis Communications, among others).
- Collection and production of informational and audiovisual materials (photos, videos, interviews, press releases, articles, etc.) for specific support to LWF/SM COL-VEN field missions.
- Promote alliances with national and international media outlets to position the LWF/SM COL-VEN on the national public agenda.
- Co-lead the growth and positioning strategy for FLM/SM COL-VEN’s communication channels (Social networks: Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram; and website)
- Promote spaces for analysis of the national context and situation for the entire team, on a weekly or biweekly basis.
- Manage training and capacity building spaces on communication and digital topics for all FLM/SM COL-VEN staff.
- Manage coaching, moderation, and group facilitation workshops using visualization techniques for the FLM/SM COL-VEN program team.
- Support in the preparation of the LWF/SM COL-VEN Annual Report and its dissemination
- Adaptation of the Complaints Mechanism for socialization with children and adolescents and illiterate or non-Spanish speaking individuals, in a participatory manner.
- Management and monitoring for the development of communications products for current projects, in accordance with FLM/SM COL-VEN standards.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the effective implementation of the LWF security policy and ensure the implementation of the LWF Codes of Conduct and other institutional policies within the framework of the project.
- Strictly comply with LWF/SM-CO procedures, manuals, and policies.
- Ensure proper cash management for travel advances for activities. Complete travel reports that comply with donor requirements and LWF administrative procedures.
- Promote and strengthen organizational culture through initiatives that foster company values, team collaboration, and the professional development of the team and staff in general.
- Ensure proper compliance with the administrative and control procedures applicable to them, within the scope of their activities within the framework of the specific project and FLM policies.
- Comply with LWF procedures, manuals, and policies, including the Codes of Conduct, Safety and Security Policy, Security Manual, Child Protection, and any other requirements established by LWF.
- The LWF has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse, and all staff have a duty to comply with and promote the LWF Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Policy in the conduct of all their duties and functions.
Professional Requirements
Level of Education
- An undergraduate level of study in social communication, journalism, advertising and/or related careers is required.
- A postgraduate degree with an emphasis on strategic communication and/or the development and understanding of differential approaches is desirable. A focus on media is desirable.
Work Experience
- Minimum experience of three (03) years in the same or similar positions
- Experience related to human rights, refugee rights, IHL, and enforcement mechanisms.
- Experience in institutional communication management on social media, design and implementation of creative communication strategies, production, and writing for social and/or human rights, humanitarian, development, and peace organizations is desirable.
- Experience in photographic and audiovisual production and editing is desirable.
- Knowledge of strategic communication plans for international organizations.
- Excellent writing skills. Proactive in staying up-to-date on news and trends in the field. Willingness to work as a team.
Languages ​​and office automation
- It is essential that you read, speak, and write Spanish, whether as a native language or with proven advanced fluency.
- A basic-intermediate level of English will be positively valued.
