Caritas Switzerland is a major aid organization in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Caritas Switzerland operates in around twenty countries with the aim of combating poverty. Present in Mali, its projects focus on income generation, climate change, and migration. As part of a project whose implementation is conditional on obtaining funding, Caritas Switzerland is seeking:

A Project Manager (long-term expert), Mali

Your tasks

  • Ensure overall responsibility for the consultancy services provided by Caritas Switzerland;
  • Ensure the consistency and complementarity of Caritas Switzerland services with other project services at local and national level;
  • Take into account cross-cutting themes (e.g. gender equality);
  • Supervise staff, including identifying short-term mission needs within the available budget, planning and managing interventions and supervising local and international experts;
  • Ensure monitoring of results;
  • Prepare reports within the required timeframes;
  • Monitor the use of funds and financial planning in consultation with the donor;
  • Support the donor in updating and/or adapting the project design, evaluations and preparation for a subsequent phase;
  • Coordinate communication with the Ministry of Agriculture, the steering committee, partners and other stakeholders

The profile sought is that of an international expert in agricultural and rural development policies, specialist in institutional strategy and support for change in development organizations.

Qualifications :

  • Engineering degree or university degree (master’s degree / Bac +5) in agroeconomics, agricultural development, agro-sociology or rural economics;
  • 10 years in the agricultural and rural development sector;
  • 8 years of experience in institutional and organizational development of agricultural and rural development structures;
  • 5 years of experience in public and private agricultural advisory systems;
  • 5 years of experience as a team leader, having led a multinational and multidisciplinary team of at least three members in the field of development implementation;
  • 3 years of continuous experience or five short-term assignments over the last ten years in the West African region;
  • 2 years of experience (in total) in multi-stakeholder group facilitation, mediation and institutional intermediation in the agricultural sector;
  • Knowledge of GIZ in Mali is an asset
  • Very good knowledge of French (oral and written);

  • High writing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Good adaptability, listening and negotiation skills;
  • Have the ability to work in a team and independently; Rigor and precision;
  • Adherence to the values ​​and Code of Conduct of Caritas Switzerland.

The work location is Bamako, Mali.
Start date: December 2025
Duration: 90 days of mission (40 in Mali, 50 remote), to be spread out until December 2026
