Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 13 million patients in 15 countries and currently operates in 13 countries in Africa and Haiti. Several humanitarian medical response projects have been implemented to address the needs of populations affected by conflict, epidemics, and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support of national health authorities through health facilities (more than 500). We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from expertise, whether at the national level or internationally. Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we conduct operational and clinical research projects, particularly to combat malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.

ALIMA

THE ALIMA TEAM: More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, working closest to patients, receive support from the coordination teams, generally based in the capital cities of the countries where they operate. These teams are supported by the three desk teams and the emergency and openings team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The teams in Paris and New York actively work on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA network includes individuals and partner teams working for other organizations such as the medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERTE Santé, SOS Médecins/KEOOGO, and AMCP; the research organizations PACCI and INSERM; the Universities of Bordeaux and Copenhagen; the NGO Solidarités International; and many others.

OUR PROJECT THEMES: Malnutrition, Sexual and reproductive health including gender-based violence, Primary and secondary health, surgery, pediatric care, deadly diseases such as Malaria, ARI, Diarrhea, Epidemics (Hemorrhagic fevers, meningitis, Cholera, Measles, Dengue, Covid-19).

OUR COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION: Mali, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Guinea, Sudan, Mauritania, Haiti.

MISSIONS CONCERNED:

ALIMA is seeking Donor Relations Managers (RRB) to work in one of our countries of operation. Priority will be given to one of the following countries: Haiti, Central African Republic, Niger.

Our positions are based in the capital and require occasional travel to the field.

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Level 3: As part of their duties, the incumbent will be required to visit programs and be in contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or a certificate of good conduct will be required. In situations where it is impossible to provide a criminal record check or a certificate of good conduct, a sworn statement will be requested.

MAIN MISSION

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, the Donor Relations Manager is responsible for implementing the funding strategy in line with ALIMA’s country action plan.

In a context of declining overall funding in the humanitarian sector:

  • He/She is responsible for mobilizing funding that will enable the implementation of projects.
  • He/She maintains regular contact with funders and actively seeks funding.
  • He/She is responsible for drafting project proposals and reports to donors.
  • He/She supports the monitoring of contractual donor indicators, in collaboration with the Project Coordinators and the Medical Coordinator.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Definition and monitoring of the country financing strategy

They identify the mission’s funding needs in collaboration with the coordination team and propose a relevant funding strategy for the mission, in line with the country’s operational action plan. During the mission, the Donor Relations Officer monitors the funding strategy and adapts it as needs evolve.

  • Maintaining relationships with donors

Working with the Head of Mission, he/she represents ALIMA to donors, negotiates funding for ALIMA projects, and ensures regular, high-quality communication. He/she coordinates donor visits to projects when the security situation permits, with the support of the Head of Mission.

  • Seeking funding

The Donor Relations Manager, supporting the Head of Mission, actively seeks funding and identifies new donors to approach in order to ensure a thorough understanding of ALIMA and the projects implemented by its partners. They actively monitor donor thematic priorities and funding mechanisms in the country and update the donor database. They develop project fact sheets and brochures to ensure institutional communication throughout the year.

  • Production of concept notes and project proposals

To secure funding, the Donor Relations Manager is responsible for submitting concept notes and project proposals within the deadlines set by the funding agencies. They coordinate and draft project documents to address funding opportunities. They ensure the quality and compliance of the documents produced and guarantee alignment with the thematic and operational priorities of the funding agencies.

  • Disseminates key information on donor procedures and financing agreements, and supports Project Coordinators in monitoring contractual requirements.

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for keeping the coordination team up-to-date on donor guidelines. They continuously inform the teams about changes in donor procedures and requirements. In addition, the Donor Relations Manager supports Project Coordinators in monitoring donor contractual requirements. The Donor Relations Manager monitors operational developments, including budgetary changes, in order to propose contractual amendments as needed.

  • Data tracking to meet reporting requirements

The Donor Relations Manager collaborates with the Data Manager and the Medical Coordinator on the control and compilation of operational data. They ensure the updating of data monitoring tools related to funding agreements and anticipate reporting deadlines to guarantee data completeness and high-quality analysis.

  • Ensure the production of accurate and analytical narrative reports within the defined deadlines

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for preparing interim and final reports, as well as all other deliverables for donors, according to the required formats and reporting rules. They are directly responsible for coordinating the drafting of these documents, based on accurate quantitative and qualitative information gathered throughout the year. They maintain regular contact with Project Coordinators and Managers and, for the purpose of preparing reports, bridge the gap between commitments to the donor and the realities of the projects and the field. They ensure deadlines are met and are responsible for the quality of the reports.

  • Ensure the contractual management of financing contracts

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for monitoring funding agreements with donors. They are in direct contact with the donor’s national representatives regarding contract management. They ensure they are familiar with and comply with the donor’s procedures and that these procedures are also understood by the rest of the team. To this end, they use a shared contract monitoring tool, which they help to keep up to date.

  • Ensuring the application of standards in preventing abuse

The Donor Relations Manager must participate in training and awareness sessions. They apply abuse prevention standards in all their tasks (e.g., including the topic in reports and project proposals, clauses on abuse prevention, etc.). They contribute to creating and maintaining a supportive and safe work environment.

  • Advanced degree (Master’s level or equivalent) related to the position (development studies, public health, international relations, project management, etc.)
  • Excellent level of English and French, both spoken and written. Good command of project management tools (project cycle, logical framework, project proposal, reporting, etc.)
  • Professional experience in reporting, design and/or project management of at least one year, as well as field experience.
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and writing skills
  • Autonomy, initiative, ability to work in a team and to communicate
  • Rigour, motivation, and a willingness to achieve project support objectives
  • Understanding and adherence to ALIMA’s values ​​and mission

Terms

  • Contract type: Fixed-term contract under French law
  • Contract duration: between 6 and 12 months depending on the country of assignment
  • Salary: According to ALIMA salary scale (level 11 bis) + recognition of experience + per diem
  • ALIMA takes care of:
    • Travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the mission location
    • Accommodation costs (guest house lodging)
    • Medical coverage from the first day of the contract until one month after the departure date from the country of assignment for the employee and their dependents
    • Evacuation for the employee and their dependents.
