Economic Recovery Assistant – Carúpano At Danish Refugee Council

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in over 40 countries to provide appropriate assistance and protection to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, people on the move, and vulnerable local populations/host communities. DRC is currently seeking a highly qualified Economic Recovery Assistant based in Carúpano, Sucre State.

About the job:

DRC is managing its operations in Venezuela, under the direction of the country office in Caracas and three field offices located in the states of Sucre, Apure, and Zulia. DRC Venezuela is implementing activities such as protection monitoring, legal assistance, individual protection assistance for people with disabilities, information sessions for proof of identity (PoC), prevention of human trafficking, rehabilitation of health infrastructure, and food security.

Job objective :

The Economic Recovery Assistant will be responsible for providing support in the implementation of project activities on the ground, mainly in food security and livelihoods activities, as well as in logistical, community and documentation processes, ensuring compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines.

The Assistant will promote integrated and coordinated programming across the various subsectors of Economic Recovery, as well as with the Protection, WASI and Disaster Preparedness teams, ensuring intersectoral and quality interventions at all stages of the project.

Responsibilities:

Operational and logistical support:

  • Support in the identification of production chains, key actors and opportunities for financial inclusion (institutions, banking, private sector) that promote the self-sufficiency and resilience of the Persons of Interest (PDI).
  • Support training processes in business plans, green livelihoods, vocational guidance, soft skills, marketing plans, cost structures, management and financial education, through hybrid methodologies that include digital platforms (Moodle).
  • Participate in the preparation and organization of the distribution site, ensuring adequate conditions of order, security, signage, flow of attention, crowd control and accessibility for people with specific needs.
  • Actively collaborate in the direct delivery of food or kits, promoting dignified, respectful and non-discriminatory treatment towards Persons of Interest (PDI), and ensuring order and fluidity in the process.
  • Assist in the reception, unloading, verification of quantities and quality control of food and other supplies, ensuring their proper temporary storage in accordance with basic hygiene and preservation standards.
  • Ensure the safekeeping, organization and control of materials, field inventories and means of verification (minutes, signed lists, logistics forms, incident reports).
  • Participate in the joint verification of acquired goods and equipment, checking their conformity with the established technical specifications, quantities and conditions.
  • Provide logistical and operational support in Economic Recovery activities, including organizing training sessions, delivering production inputs, setting up training spaces, and basic field follow-up.
  • Other activities necessary for the correct implementation of the project, according to the guidelines of the Team Leader or Economic Recovery Manager.

Community support

  • Provide guidance to beneficiaries on the delivery process and delivery times.
  • Give priority to people with specific needs: older people, pregnant women, people with disabilities, among others.
  • Support in the planning and operational preparation of community activities (calls, coordination with community leaders, verification of lists and organization of schedules).
  • Respect the cultural practices of indigenous communities and support the logistics of participatory activities.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the workshops or community activities required by the program, in accordance with the identification of needs.

Documentation and monitoring support

  • Support in the collection and organization of verification media required for reports, post-distribution monitoring (PDM) and baselines.
  • Inform the Team Leader about any incident, complaint, or difficulty encountered during the activities.
  • Keep a log of activities and routes when required by the base manager.

Experience and Technical Skills:

  • At least one year of experience working with communities or on social/humanitarian projects. Experience with business plans, soft skills development, agricultural production models, or logistics is desirable.
  • Experience in the delivery and administration of humanitarian aid.
  • Experience in rural and hard-to-reach contexts or indigenous communities will be an added value.
  • Knowledge of value chain and productivity, marketing and financial management is valued.
  • Self-organization capacity
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Office suite tools.

Education:

  • Technical or professional training in social work, community assistance, education, human development, business administration, economics, accounting or related areas.
