Service requested:
For the AFD-funded project “Feminist Opportunities Now,” Empow’Her is seeking an individual consultant or group of consultants specializing in economic models for social impact businesses to provide practical training on the implementation of a hybrid economic model based on the creation of a fund-generating activity by an association. The consultant or group of consultants will focus the training on the current legal and tax framework in Colombia, i.e., the legal and tax consequences of integrating a commercial activity into a non-profit association.
Therefore, Empow’Her is seeking a consultant or group of consultants to provide training on the legal aspects of implementing a profit-making project for a non-profit organization (laws, taxes, etc.), specific to the country of application.
Therefore, the expert will be responsible for providing training on Colombia’s legal framework to 8 associations (2 participants per CSO maximum) during a single 2-hour session .
The consultant or group of consultants’ mission will be to prepare the training, to be delivered via videoconference, on the legal and tax framework for hybrid economic models.
During the online training, the mission will be to provide training based on the real needs of the associations and the current legal framework. The consultant or group of consultants must be able to explain the different regulations in the country and answer specific questions from CSOs. After the training, the expert will deliver a document containing the key points of the training and detailing the key elements (to be defined with Empow’Her). This document can be published on the FON project’s training channels, particularly on the e-learning platform https://fon.empow-her.com/ .
Training content
- Legal and tax consequences of the creation of a hybrid association’s income through the creation of a commercial activity;
- Legal structuring of the organization’s activities: possibilities in terms of legal portability of activities and advantages, risks and disadvantages of the different portability options;
- Best practice recommendations for creating new legal entities: timeline, support to seek, costs, obstacles to avoid, etc.
Operation of the mission
As soon as the partnership begins, Empow’Her will organize a kickoff meeting with Latin American experts to consolidate their understanding of the mission and conduct a Q&A session. Empow’Her will then provide the trainer with a framework document outlining the partnerships’ fundraising activities, as well as their overall legal and tax support needs.
Expected deliverables
Two (2) hour online training.
A training medium (e.g. a slide presentation) used during the online session and containing the main information.
Empow’Her aims to reuse the training materials in other programs and courses, and more specifically, to upload them to its online learning platform https://fon.empow-her.com/ to make them accessible to other CSOs.
Duration, location and conditions
- Duration: Two (2) hour training session with terms at the discretion of the expert (e.g.: 1 hour of content/1 hour of Q&A; 2 hours of Q&A);
- Location: Online, via videoconference. Empow’Her can assist with technical preparation if needed.
