Open Cultural Center (OCC) is a non-profit organisation (NGO) based in Spain and Greece that works towards the inclusion of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers by offering activities to both host-country nationals and third-country nationals.
Project description: Youth For All is a socio-professional integration project aimed at young people with a migrant background who have recently left the child protection system, in the rural region of Moianès, Catalonia.
The project accommodates 10 young people in a house in Castellterçol and, over the course of one year, provides them with vocational training in forestry, as well as Spanish, Catalan and computer classes, and individualised support from a social educator.
Main tasks
- Support the educational team in organising weekly classes and volunteering activities;
- Teach language classes (Spanish and Catalan) and computer classes;
- Support the coordinator and social educator in establishing rules and structures for coexistence;
- Accompany young people to administrative and/or medical appointments;
- Support the expansion of the local network by presenting the project at public events, contacting local stakeholders, etc.;
- Support the administrative tasks of the project;
- Support the creation of communication content;
- Support the financial management of the project;
- Support the rest of the team and actively participate in the activities of the Organisation;
- Support communication and financial management at the organisational level within Open Cultural Center;
- Work mainly in Moià , although one or two days per week will be based in Barcelona.
Requirements
- Good level of Spanish; Catalan and English are an asset;
- Commitment to the mission of the project;
- Autonomy and proactivity;
- Teaching experience would be an asset;
- Training in social work, social education or social integration is an asset;
- Good written communication skills;
- Experience organising activities is an asset;
- Experience and/or interest in working or volunteering with migrant people is an asset;
- Empathy, assertiveness and conflict-management skills;
- Experience in the financial management of social projects;
- Experience in managing communication for social organisations.
Eligibility
To participate in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Volunteering Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old;
- Be a resident of the European Union or an associated country (EU neighbouring countries);
- Be available for 12 months;
- Have no previous participation in the ESC programme.
What do we offer?
Our volunteering programme is funded by the European Commission through the European Solidarity Corps programme. This means that volunteering provides:
- Travel cost coverage: up to the limits established by the distance calculator in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide, from the volunteer’s region of residence to our centre and back;
- Free accommodation: provided in Moianès. The accommodation is fully equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, washing machine, etc.);
- Monthly allowance: €330 per month;
- Insurance: Henner;
- Free language courses: online.
