This internship is part of an academic, professional, or socio-professional integration training program and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Monitoring Council (CSME). The duration of the internship, as defined by the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 12 months at 100%.

Context & Mission
Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, to people affected by natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The “Public Engagement” unit is composed of 3 staff members and 2 interns specializing in media relations and event management. The team is part of the communications and fundraising department.
The internship offers a comprehensive overview of event work at MSF Switzerland. The intern will become familiar with the concept of “bearing witness.” In the crisis zones where MSF operates, the organization sees itself as a witness, and our intervention teams always bear witness, which is an important part of our work. It is within this context that the intern organizes events to raise awareness among the Swiss public.
Main responsibilities
The intern actively participates in the selection, planning, and execution of events throughout Switzerland. This person is in contact with various cultural and artistic partners, particularly for photography and comic book exhibitions, film festivals, and movie screenings, in order to draw attention to conflicts and crises and the activities of MSF.
Description of responsibilities and main activities:
- Collaborating in the selection, planning and execution of MSF events throughout Switzerland.
- Assist in the creation of communication materials for events (workshops, exhibitions, festivals, film screenings, mapathons, workshops).
- Active participation in the development of MSF’s cultural partnerships.
- Administrative tasks and coordination of MSF staff interventions (both in the medical sector and in support activities) at the scene of events.
- Administrative coordination of guided tours for visitors at MSF Switzerland headquarters.
Desired profile
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent program in the field of event management, cultural management, communication or social sciences.
- Prior professional experience in the events industry is desirable.
- Talented organizer, targeted and effective work method.
- Very good knowledge of German.
- Good knowledge of French and English.
- Excellent ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate a commitment to and support for diversity, inclusive and non-discriminatory behaviors and attitudes.
- Strong interest in humanitarian issues.
- Proactive and dynamic personality, with a strong taste for teamwork.
- Adaptability and ability to effectively manage changing priorities and tight deadlines.
Working conditions
- Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
- 9-month internship at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
- Based in Geneva
- Effective date: September 1, 2026
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
