ABOUT OXFAM COLOMBIA

Oxfam Colombia is a Colombian, feminist organization committed to life and sustainable coexistence with the environment. It contributes to building peace in Colombia from the ground up, with the leadership of women and civil society organizations, to overcome inequalities and guarantee social, gender, and climate justice in the country.

Oxfam Colombia is affiliated with an international confederation made up of 22 members.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Oxfam Colombia is seeking a feminist leader to fill the position of Executive Director. In this role, you will:

  • She will develop a leadership that consolidates the organizational culture consistent with its feminist values ​​and identity, articulating a long-term strategy for Oxfam Colombia, always in collaboration with a wide variety of social actors with whom the political agenda that defines the mission of Oxfam Colombia is shared.
  • She will represent Oxfam Colombia at high-level meetings with public and private institutions (political, diplomatic, business, media, and philanthropic) in international and national forums. She will cultivate and strengthen the relationship with Oxfam International and the other affiliates of the Global Confederation.
  • It will guarantee a close programmatic presence in the territories affected by inequality and conflict, from which clear strategies of public and political influence will be articulated for deep internal and structural transformations in favor of life at the center.
  • She will lead and drive the establishment of a sustainable organization in Colombia , consolidating the operational capacity that ensures the fiscal, accounting, administrative, financial, and logistical health of the organization and the effective management of the performance of Oxfam Colombia’s people.
  • It will ensure the management of human, financial, technical, and technological resources, adhering to the ethical principles of consistency and transparency, and guaranteeing best practices. It will also revitalize and strengthen Oxfam Colombia’s relationship with its governing bodies (Board of Directors and General Assembly), maintaining fluid and transparent communication, accountability, and facilitating their decision-making processes.
  • She will support Oxfam International in its regional agenda, playing an active role within the international confederation. This involves participating in global administrative spaces such as the EDF, strategy and exchange among affiliated organizations, as well as contributing from the realities, lessons learned, and priorities of Colombia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and, more broadly, the Global South.
  • The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience

Experience and Strategic Leadership

  • 15 years of related professional experience, of which at least 10 years must be work in the Colombian context.
  • Experience of at least eight (8) years in similar Management Positions at the national and international level or as a senior manager in the private, public or non-profit sector.
  • Experience in leading organizational development and strengthening processes. Experience in political dialogue.
  • Substantial experience working in partnership with organizations and networks of the women’s and feminist movement, rural, ethnic, human rights and victims.
  • Demonstrable experience in relationship building, negotiation and communication with different multi-level actors at the national and international level.
  • Experience in humanitarian work at the national and international level, in other regions of Latin America and the World.
  • Gender training, gender perspective, or feminist approach
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in human rights-based development issues;
  • Experience working in remote and highly complex areas within the national territory.
  • Knowledge of the LAC region and international dynamics that influence development cooperation
  • Proven experience in building credibility and trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent skills in generating a collective commitment with a clear vision and strategy.
  • Knowledge of the work of NGOs in development programs, policies and public advocacy, as well as in disaster relief operations.

  • Excellent ability to develop a long-term strategy for Oxfam Colombia, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Possess decision-making skills and management abilities.
  • Committed to transparency and accountability on results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and English. Additional languages ​​are a plus.
  • Vision, flexibility and innovative capacity to respond to rapid changes in the global environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrable diplomatic, mediation, and negotiation skills.
  • Possessing strategic thinking, with the ability to act in crisis scenarios.
  • An empathetic person with excellent listening skills. Possesses excellent communication skills, demonstrating integrity in all interactions.
  • Excellent understanding of the problems and causes of socioeconomic injustice, inequality, poverty and suffering and their manifestations in Colombia.
  • That it relates from a place of coherence, respect for others, and with a human touch.

Requirements

  • Colombian nationality.
  • Professional degree in Humanities, Social Sciences or related fields (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in Peacebuilding, International Cooperation, Territorial Development, Rural Development, Human Rights, Public Policy, Social Sciences, and related fields. Doctorate preferred (but not required).

Salary and benefits: Nationwide compensation package commensurate with the position’s hierarchy
