External Project Evaluation – Syria Media Literacy Lab
1. Background
The Syria Media Literacy Lab project aims to provide participating media professionals with journalistic skills and competencies in order to lay the foundations for an overall improvement in the quality of media coverage in Syria. To this end, training courses are being implemented and a preparatory study is being conducted on the local media landscape and the circulation of disinformation in Syria, which will contribute to the achievement of the project’s objectives and indicators.
2. Purpose of the position
The External Project Evaluationconducts an external evaluation at the end of the project. To ensure quality and further develop the project, they should conduct an external evaluation to determine the degree to which objectives have been achieved, review the effectiveness and sustainability of the measures, and identify strengths, challenges and suggestions for improvement.
3. Responsibilities and tasks
- Conducting an external evaluation at the end of the project.
- Verification of the desired effectiveness of the measures through data analysis, evaluation of work results and journalistic reports, interviews with participants and other project stakeholders such as trainers
- Formulation of strengths, challenges and suggestions for improvement
4. Cooperation and reporting lines
- The service Evaluation reports directly to the sponsoring organization.
5. Requirements for the External Project Evaluation
- University degree in relevant fields: Journalism, media, politics, teaching
- In-depth expertise and several years of academical and practical experience in the relevant areas and in evaluation of projects
- Business fluent in English and Arabic.
6. Contractual framework
- Scope of employment: 9 days in October/November 2025 on a freelance basis
- Location: remote
