The Finance Support Officer’s mission is to strengthen the capacities of the finance department, particularly of new team members, through training and practical support.
The position includes a particular focus on accounting, supporting the transition to the new Business Central system, cash management and archiving of financial documents.
We are therefore looking as soon as possible or by agreement for an experienced and motivated person to fill the following position:
Finance & Capacity Building Support Officer, DRC
Your main responsibilities:
Training and support for teams
Train new financial employees on:
- Accounting.
- Budget management and financial monitoring.
- Lessor compliance requirements (reporting, justification, transparency).
- Cash management (forecasts, cash monitoring, bank reconciliations).
- Good practices for archiving and filing accounting and financial documents.
- Provide ongoing educational support to ensure the team’s skills development.
Support for the transition to Business Central (new accounting system)
- Train teams in the operational use of the software and train them on double-entry accounting.
- Facilitate the integration of accounting principles into the tool (budget translation, etc.).
- Develop practical support (guides, procedures, checklists) adapted to the teams and the context.
Tools and procedures
- Participate in the development of models adapted to the mission (budgets, cash flow forecasts, reporting formats).
- Contribute to the improvement and standardization of internal procedures, particularly between different bases and coordination.
Reporting
- Produce monitoring notes and recommendations on progress made in capacity building.
Your strengths and skills:
Education and experience:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial and accounting management, ideally in the context of donor-funded projects.
- Experience in training or mentoring financial teams is a major asset.
- Proficiency in Business Central or equivalent accounting software is highly appreciated.
Additional specialist knowledge required:
- Fluent/mother tongue French and good knowledge of English
- Knowledge of institutional donors (ECHO, BHA, UN agencies, etc.)
- Knowledge of the following sectors of activity is an asset: EHA, SAME, emergency distributions (cash and AME)
- Solid knowledge of general and analytical accounting.
