ALIMA promotes and defends fundamental human rights principles. HEAL – INNOVATE – TOGETHER: Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has reached more than 18 million beneficiaries in 15 countries, primarily in Africa. In 2024, we developed 59 humanitarian medical response projects to address the needs of populations affected by conflict, epidemics, and extreme poverty. All of these projects are carried out in support of national health authorities through healthcare facilities (including hospitals and health centers). Our work stems from a constant adaptation to the realities on the ground and advances in medicine.
In 2024, ALIMA reached 5.9 million beneficiaries. We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from expertise wherever it is found, whether in their own country or elsewhere in the world.
Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we are conducting operational and clinical research projects, particularly in the area of ​​combating malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.
THE ALIMA TEAM: More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, working closest to patients, receive support from the coordination teams, generally based in the capital cities of the countries where they operate. These teams are supported by the three desk teams and the emergency and openings team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The teams in Paris and New York actively work on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA network includes individuals and partner teams working for other organizations such as the medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERTE Santé, SOS Médecins/KEOOGO, and AMCP; the research organizations PACCI and INSERM; the Universities of Bordeaux and Copenhagen; the NGO Solidarités International; and many others.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS
Hierarchical and technical superior : The hierarchical superior is the Deputy Administrative and Financial Director.
Staff under his direct supervision : He provides technical support to mission staff involved in the financial management of specific projects managed from ALIMA headquarters, and collaborates with the Finance Desks specifically on aspects of these types of contracts, if they exist. He does not have a team under his direct supervision.
He/she will be required to collaborate closely with : The research project manager and the CORAL platform, the Finance Desk, the audit department, the head office accounting department, the donor relations department within the framework of activities falling within his/her reporting scope.
MAIN MISSION
(Monitor all specific financing contracts managed from headquarters, not aligned in our mission countries)
They are responsible for preparing and developing this type of budget in close collaboration with operational and/or research teams. They ensure the proper monitoring of budgets for all these portfolios managed from headquarters. They are responsible for presenting these budgets to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer for approval.
In addition to specific budgets and donation budgets, he or she will also be responsible for presenting budget monitoring reports to headquarters and sharing them with all ALIMA departments at headquarters. This is to foster a culture of budget monitoring proficiency among the various department heads at ALIMA headquarters.
In addition, if the specific headquarters contract is managed from Dakar but has an impact on certain countries of operation, he/she will be required to carry out quality control missions in these projects in order to supervise, support and be able to have a complete report of these types of financing contracts.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Specific contracts for ALIMA headquarters
Is responsible for the consolidation/preparation of budgets for specific cross-functional contracts managed from ALIMA headquarters.
Under the direction of the Deputy Administrative and Financial Director, he or she:
- Ensures the proper monthly monitoring of budgetary follow-ups for specific financing contracts at ALIMA headquarters (environmental contracts managed from headquarters and donation contracts managed from headquarters, and other new specific contracts that will be introduced)
- Ensures proper maintenance of financial monitoring of ALIMA’s equity allocated by department.
- The multi-country budget allocation system, managed from ALIMA headquarters, provides informed guidance to all staff for sound management. It monitors the consolidated budget, identifies risks, and outlines corrective actions.
- Consolidates financial reporting and produces a quality report for ALIMA and donors.
Research contracts
The same applies as for cross-functional contracts:
- This involves managing these contracts with dedicated research project managers, who are managed from headquarters.
- He researches best practices among research funders and uses them for his financial reporting
- Performs cost analyses in conjunction with accounting to ensure consistency of
accounting allocations, and proposes reallocations towards the correct contract codes.
Quality, risk management and audits
- Participates in audits of contracts under his/her responsibility.
COMPETENCES et EXPERIENCES
Level of education
- Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3), Financial Management
- Accounting specializations
Experience: The expected years of experience are at least:
- Over 2 years in financial management
- 3 years in a humanitarian context and managing public donors
- Excellent knowledge and mastery of cost accounting
- Proficiency in SAGA, Odoo and other financial management software
- Excellent Excel skills, including creating macro formulas
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural context.
- Knowledge transmission capabilities.
LANGUAGES:
- Knowledge of French and English is essential.
